i looked terrible from age 10 to 12 (early puberty). unattractive glasses, acne (which i STILL get, but to a lesser degree), greasy hair, and so on. even my nose, arms and legs seemed dissatisfied with my appearance, and grew slightly larger in proportion, almost as though they were attempting to outgrow the rest of my body in an ill-fated attempt to escape. eventually the rest of me caught up.

the worst part was not knowing how to dress. during puberty i was suddenly wearing adult sizes (at age 10 etc.), and had no idea how to express myself. i didn't want to wear anything sexy, which excluded a lot of the choices at the time, so i ended up looking very dowdy in ladies' clothing. i was growing too fast for my mother to sew me anything. when i look at old pictures of the time, it looks like i am playing dressup as an office worker.

I think I'll tell my daughter around that age that's she's going to be a butterfly soon.

For those of you going trough puberty; if listening to crappy funny music about it helps you feel better like music helps me; here's the perfect song for this
