Everything is connected so there's no such thing as creativity that occurs without a cause, without an 'inspiration'
I have always had hang-ups about this as well. After reading this (link) I started trying not to see it that way, because it really is paralyzing. I feel like I could be so much farther along as an artist if I hadn't let the idea of originality get to me. But I still do sometimes.
This (link) is good as well, and the "perception is creative" part I particularly try to keep in mind, because I'm never happy with my style and feel that it is boring. But I'm told that it's boring to me because it's mine. Even if my perception is sometimes quite literal.
Tea: I used to do that jigsaw puzzle thing all the time when I was a kid! That and just fill a page with random scribbles and then color them in.
Thanks for the ideas. I plan on spending a lot of time painting after I'm done with work.
I usually don't understand what people mean by 'creativity' and 'originality'.
I always say, 'climb the mountain because it's there' (to paraphrase George Mallory). And 'no man is an island' (John Donne). That's it for me.
