Thank you for the recommendations Tequila! I admit that I haven't heard of many of those before, but that's alright because I enjoy learning about new programmes (well, new to me anyway). I have heard of EastEnders though, because I have read in various interviews that that is a programme which my favorite actress, Helena Bonham Carter, enjoys watching.

Come Dine With Me is a cookery programme where five contestants host a dinner party at each other's houses each day of the week - accompanied by a wonderfully sneering narration by Dave Lamb. Gardener's World is about gardening (my mum has actually met some of the presenters involved with that programme during her work).

Don't watch Question Time though if you're into politics. It used to be quite interesting, now it's so, so dull you can't believe it. Four out of five of the panellists and most of the audience tend to be centre-left to far-left, with the odd appearance by someone who is actually right of centre occasionally. So they'll have a Labour MP bod on, a left-leaning Tory MP, a Lib Dim lord, grandee or sometimes an MP (who are hugely unpopular at the moment because of the fabled 'cuts'), sometimes a historian or a left-wing poet. It's dull as all hell.

Only watch if Ian Hislop is on the panel, Newsnight is great for the Paxo grillings

I think I would enjoy Come Dine With Me. I like watching cooking programmes, though I admit the ones in the US are mainly "Let's show you the most greasy, fattening, delicious foods you can imagine, show you where you can buy it, and tell you about the people who make it!" ex. Unwrapped, Cake Boss, Paula Deen's Cooking Show.

Gardener's World sounds so relaxing for some reason. Probably because there isn't much drama or action involved in maintaining a garden. I'll have to look into that as well.

It's been going for years. One of the old theme tunes to Gardener's World always sticks in my memory.

You can watch an old episode from 1996 here if you like. This is Part 1, starring Alan Titchmarsh.

There are quite a lot of Gardener's World videos on YouTube, from archive episodes to excerpts from more modern ones.

There are also other shows I can think of that you might not have seen like The Royle Family. It's a comedy, but very little actually happens. It has gradually changed over the years (and has suffered for it, IMO) but it's basically about a family of northern working-class people who sit in front of the TV, headed by patriarch (and fat slob-in-chief) Jim Royle. That's the plotline. It's all to do with families, and idle gossip, people they know (but most of them we never see), food, bad habits, and so on. Early Doors is like a follow-on from that but set in a Manchester pub.

I know someone who actually participated on that show...from my temporary job. :D

Also, BEE BEE CEE, RADIO TWO!! !! !

The tune I kept listening to with a Teaching Assistant whilst going to another school for Intergration.

Although I used to listen to the BBC Radio 1 charts...

Can someone please get that fat idiot Chris Moyles off the show? He's just repulsive.

Someone mentioned Cake Boss....that show is a drama withing a cooking show...so OTT.
