The Netherlands, as their government sometimes makes sensible decisions.

I don't just mean the softdrugs policy, either. When they mandated lights for bicycles, they set up checkpoints and offered a choice: pay a large fine, or pay a small fee for them to install a light.

I would have loved to have been born in England. I like the history and the culture. A lot of my favourite music groups and performers are from England and the scenery is nice.

I was born in central Canada, and I'd pick it for myself too. I like having seasons, I love our scenery, I love that I can drive 5 mins in one direction, and be in farm country. Drive 5 mins the other direction and have any convenience.

In my ideal world I would go back in time though, I'd love to live in the late 1800s to the early 1900s.

Germany, because they will one day rule the world.

Fact: 95% of Germans still dream of world domination.

The UK has the most centralised health care system in Europe - from my own experience, it's hit and miss. Great when it works but very often it doesn't. The staff are very variable - to extremely caring and good at their job, to decent, to mediocre, to arrogant to being the sort of people you wouldn't let near someone's pet dog, let alone vulnerable patients.

Challenge their bad behaviour though and you're treated like a heretic.

The main point is that there is NO plurality or 'opt-out' in the NHS - people who are well-off can pay for expensive private care, but you're paying twice if you do that. Private care is expensive but good if you can avail yourself of it.

Health care in Continental Europe is often considered superior and is less centralised but at least partially or wholly state funded. There is more of a choice.

It still sounds a hell of a lot better than the private health care I've had here in America. The docs don't give a rats-ass if you get better or not. They require pointless test so they can run up a tab & they push meds because they get kick-backs from the drug companies. They require you to sign paperwork before you even see em so they can not be held accountable for any f#*kups they cause with your care. They also severely misdiagnosed me. I was born borderline legally blind & the f#*cking quacks didn't even realize it till my senior year of high-school

Northern Canada, like in Nunavut. Or, perhaps offworld.

Problems with collusion with Big Pharma is a big problem in the British NHS too. The government frequently listens to Big Pharma but not the opposition, as van be seen in the smoking debate. The government - and many GPs - are in the pockets of the drug companies.

Another point I'd like to make is that Americans are often under the illusion that the NHS is "free". It isn't. The British pile money into the NHS by the bucketload - it's seen as a sacred cow here by the left - but nothing really seems to get better. It's very bureaucratic at the best of times and is all target-driven. If something doesn't work, you can't remove it or change it. It doesn't listen to what its people want.

Pretty content with England, but New Zealand would have been a nice alternative.

The UK. Even though the Creedonians don't like England, I do.
