To be fair (a habit of mine - sometimes wish I could break it), the Family Radio people don't think the world will end on Saturday - they expect the Rapture. They don't think the world will end for six months after that, in October (a month after I finally get my car paid off!).
Not sure how they reconcile that with the part of the Book of Revelation that claims that a) the Rapture comes after the Tribulation; and b) the Tribulation is supposed to last for a thousand years, not six months. Maybe their God has ADHD...
As for that famous hippie on this topic:
Matthew 24:42-44 wrote:
Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. For this reason you must also be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think he will.
Mark 13:32 wrote:
But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Acts 1:6-7 wrote:
So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, "Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?"
He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority..."
