You can go to the drug store or supermarket and test your bp yourself on the machine. It tells you right on there what is the normal range for bp and pulse. I used to have this when i would get up quickly, i would get dizzy, see silver stars and then everything would go black. But it would pass quickly and i never fainted.
My bp is normal now but when i take ginsing it makes it go up. So i stopped taking the ginsing. Maybe you can try the ginsing if yours goes too low.

Did you walk to the store? A pulse that high likely means you were exercising or
your not in good shape(need to exercise). Exercise could lowwer your blood pressure. Eat more potassium cut back on sodium. Oh you could easily live
another 30 years with no treatment. So do not think your going to die soon.
Blood presure readings vary alot to.

yeah i walked and figured it was about a mile to wal-mart. so i think thats why it was such a high reading i don't know why my bp is so high i only weigh 140 pounds. does walking increase blood pressure? maybe i should take it when im not going on any kinds of long walks

Yes exercise boost blood pressure but the cool thing is it tends to lowwer it after
you rest. So if you sat for several minutes your BP and pulse may have been
much lowwer.
You do need to get your heart rate up if you want to lowwer your bp with exercise.
Oh just getting your resting pulse rate down will lowwer your blood pressure.

I have relatively low blood pressure (can't remember the figures) and used to feel faint sometimes. Now it only affects me in the mornings when I am often shaky and dizzy for the first 20 minutes after waking up.

Strangely I also have a resting pulse of 45. According to my Doctor this is usually a sign of super-fitness - he started off by asking whether I ran marathons or went on long distance cycle rides. (The answer was "no"!). The weird thing is that I'm not at all sporty, I eat what I like most of the time, drink a fair bit and used to smoke. I'm also highly stressed most of the time, so I just don't get it. What's going on?

One thing I've noticed is that my heartbeat gets slower and more even in times of acute stress, for example if I am threatened. I think this is a recognised condition and I've tried looking it up on Wikipedia but can't find anything. Does anyone here know?

Your BP is a tad high - but in a "go to the doctor at some point to make sure" kind of way rather than a "call an ambulance" kind of way. My mother has been dealing with blood pressure much higher than that for the past year.

I wouldn't worry too much about that pulse either. To get a good indication of your heart rate, you should rest at least fifteen minutes or so before taking it (you might do so with your finger on your pulse for fifteen seconds). Normal resting heart rates are anywhere between 60 and 100 - lower if you're an athletic. My resting pulse is usually somewhere in the seventies but my daytime activity pulse will happily go into the 90s. No doctor I've visited has been overly concerned about that.

Stress over having your BP taken could have caused the high reading & could the walking to the store. Those in-store BP machines aren't accurate anyway. You need to go to a dr who can test your BP standing up and sitting down several times to detect hypotension. Dizziheadedness is also a symptom of hypoglycemia & dehydration and considering your in Flagstaff could even be altitude sickness from the low oxygen levels.
