I don't drink soda. The soda industry, just like the tobacco industry, has been making millions of dollars off of our health for decades.

Guys, please, lets just talk about the amount we drink and not the health effects of it. We all know how unhealthy it is. I know I can't stop people from talking them. It also kind skew the results because people may read the posts and choose to stop drinking soda and vote "never". If someone really wants to, they can start their own thread about the health effects.

It's kind of the only choice for sometimes because I don't drink alcohol and I like to have other drinks beside water when I go to a party. Often, at parties, soda is an alternative to alcohol.

I don't drink as much soda as they do in the video.

By the way, I rarely drink commercial soda.

i too used to be that way, safeway made it easy when they started selling 2 packs of 12 sodas for 6 bucks, or 3 bucks with a clubcard. 24 sodas for 6 bucks is a pretty good bargain. I drank like a fish, and it along with many other poor diet choices made me very very sick in 2 months time.

it was fun while it lasted though, my fav flavors still being dr pepper, root beer, mountain dew, kiwi strawberry, and grape.

is not drinking alcohol a personal choice or are you allergic to it? I have a really close friend who has spina bifida and also happens to be allergic to alcohol so I usually order him a shirley temple when we go out.

I used to drink 6 cans of diet pepsi a day for the longest time until maybe a month ago :?. About a month ago I tried drinking mostly other stuff and found out I like other stuff wayyy better :D! Not to mention, juice and tea is cheaper than soda and you don't have to drink as much of it :|. Although I still love normal root beer ... so I still drink that when eating out and have a 2 liter bottle in my fridge at the moment >_>

Once a month, more or less. I used to drink more, but I can hardly ever find a decent ginger beer in a convenience store. For some reason, I hardly ever go down that aisle at the grocery store. Now that I think about it, I feel like adding it to my next shopping list.

I almost never drink soda. If I'm not drinking water, it's either black coffee or sugar-free energy drinks.

Not any more, fizzy drinks are too lethal to safely metabolize and it's practically chemical garbage in a can, not to mention that the diet ones are often inherently sourced from aspartame - a seriously scary, deplorable, and neurotoxic substance. Ever since I researched the truthful implications of artificial sweeteners, I stopped consuming any foods containing them completely, and my physical and mental well-being has improved significantly ever since.

Aspartame breaks down into the three following components: phenylalanine (50%), aspartic acid (40%), and methanol or wood-alcohol (10%). Phenylalanine should be avoided indefinitely by individuals with the autosomal recessive metabolic disorder phenylketonuria (PKU), as phenylketonurics are unable to metabolize it, and is it is therefore imperative for them to monitor their protein intake in order to control gradual build ups of phenylalanine whilst their bodies convert protein into its component amino acids. Otherwise, Phe build up will ineluctably hinder brain development, leading to long-term implicated conditions such as psychiatric illnesses, seizures, and severe intellectual impairments. Aspartic acid gradually builds up overtime and like glutamic acid found in monosodium glutamate (MSG), aspartic acid is an excitatory amino acid (excitotoxin) that can result in detrimental effects on the brain, which may consist of the degeneration of neurons, and over-stimulation of brain cells; consequently, this may trigger serious neurological impairments like Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, and long-term memory loss.

As aspartame is ingested, the converted methanol may eventually metabolize itself into formaldehyde, an exceedingly carcinogenic substance which deposits among human tissues, and like aspartic acid, it can gradually build up overtime as more and more aspartame is digested; therefore, the more exorbitant one’s consumption of Aspartame is, the more incremented the amount of Formaldehyde will build up in their nervous system. It has received media recognition over the past few years due to various correlational studies which have demonstrated a "dangerous" connection to cancer, which can be explicated by degenerated proteins and DNA. It can even be found in some inoculation substances like the DPT, IPOL, and the JE-VAX vaccines.

I drink juice, milk and water just like you, plus soda. However, I didn't drink tea (of coffee for that matter). Oh, by the way, it might be good to know that I only drink caffiene-free soda.

Nice. If I wake up and I'm really tired, I'll make coffee. But mostly the beverage I drink is bottled water/ tea. I've read that in diet soda for instance and some diet yogurts , the aspartame is bad for you, and if drinks contain high fructose corn syrup I mostly stay away from it then. So for me it's not really about what the drink is, but more whats in it

Aspartame is actually one of the worst things we can ingest. In my opinion it should be illegal. I have an excellent e-book on it, but I don't know how or if I can upload PDFs to this site.

That would be cool to read ! I've read former secretary of defense Donald Rumsfeld was CEO of Searle, the conglomerate manufacturer of aspartame. I'm not quite sure if he directly benefited after aspartame expanded throughout the last 10 years , but maybe he had a role in it. He was a major player with the FDA to get it approved.

That is correct, a former FDA commissioner named Dr Arthur Hayes overruled the Public Board of Inquiry by disregarding his own team's initial scientific concerns of Aspartame, as he naively fell for Donald Rumsfeld’s political propagandist agenda in order to get the substance approved for the marketplace. Thanks to him, he is responsible for a major perpetuation of the government's incessant scheme to intentionally dumb down multicultural societies with toxic chemicals (aspartame, HFCS, sodium fluoride, MSG, and Monsanto's GM ingredients), and this has compromised educational systems which have partially lead to the destruction of ingenious creativity, hindered intelligence, and the ability to sufficiently nurture one's offspring. The emergence of these chemicals have formulated a multitude of health implications which have generated a multi-billion dollar industry for the big,“evil” pharmaceutical companies - Big Pharma wins, we lose.

I make what I believe is a bit healthier version of carbonate drink. I just mix carbonated mineral water, lime juice freshly squeezed and a spoon or two of xylitol. This makes a nice lime soda without any really unhealthy ingredient.
