I like Veggie BBQ Ribs by Harvest Direct.

Oh, I totally do too! I am having a lot of trouble getting in the proper protein on days when I work and go to school though. Sometimes I just feel too lazy on those days, so I will toss a veggie burger on the BBQ. I am definitely a lover of beans and legumes from scratch more though.

The choice of these kind of things have improved in the UK in recent years, but I think there is much more available in the US than over here. My local Co-op has about 3 items in the vegetarian section. Unimpressive. :)

I live in Canada, and in my grocery store, there are usually two or three different brands on a good day. I did check out a different grocery store a couple days ago for convenience's sake, and found a different brand of vegan burgers (Sol spicy bean burgers). They were great, and the texture was superior, IMO. A lot of my problem is the texture. Has anyone else heard of that brand (Sol)?

I've never seen the point-
it seems more for:
omnis who are trying to cut down on meat consumption
recent vegetarians who are trying to simulate meat-eating

I'm always the first to applaud and thank a restaurant for having a bean burger, though.
Just, as a vegan, the idea of eating a meat analogue makes me. :eew:

I see the point. For me, though, I am not a vegan because I despise meat. I am a vegan for environmental reasons and also because I don't want animals to die so they can make their way to my dinner plate. Also, to me these fake meat substitutes hardly ever taste like the real thing. I am really just looking for quick ways to get some protein so my hair doesn't start falling out again. 8O

Beans, seeds, nuts, legumes?

I didn't mean to knock it- I think it's great there are products out there that encourage or make-easier some people's transition to or dabbling in a diet relying less on animal protein. Do what you gotta do to be healthy. :D

Yes, I am quite aware of these options. :) Yet, when I am busy with school and work, and gone for 14 hours, I do not always have time to come home and cook a big meal, so I need something that is QUICK and satisfying.

I was vegetarian for 10 years and my husband is vegetarian. Dinners are always veggie.

I like
- Quorn pieces (for dishes that you normally need chicken for, e.g. stirfry)
- Quorn mince (for normally beef dishes, e.g. spag bol or chilli)
- Linda McCartney sausages
I don't know how widely available these are in the world.

Also, lentils are really easy to use and don't take ages to cook. I make lentil bolognese which is ready in about 25 mins and I don't have to stand over it while it cooks.

This question is for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores who eat fake meat sometimes. I just turned vegan a little over a week ago, but I don't like awhole lot of fake meats. So, what are your favourite brands and what are your favourite types of things that particular brand makes?

I love Burger King veggie burgers. They are an actual brand (can't think of the name right now), but they do not sell the around here. Sol veggie burgers are also really good. I think Tofurky is a superior brand too.

What do you like?

Boca is my favorite, but most of the boca burgers have cheese or small amounts of egg in them. From what I understand this includes the veggie burgers at burger king and the veggi patties from subway. I think the boca chicken patties should be vegan, however. And there are some soyburger brands that are actually vegan.

You have all made me pretty curious about the Burger King veggie burgers, so I went and looked up the Canadian nutritional information. Lucky (for me!) the ones they sell here are vegan.
