It's a picture of a place (remote, insofar as anywhere in England is remote) called Thursbitch, which means roughly "Demon Valley." Alan Garner, my favourite author, wrote a story about it; I visited a few months back to see what it is like.

I like puns and similar playing on words.

Plus I'm really into Half-Life right now, since I got a brilliant deal on all the Valve games on Steam :D

<<< You see here a lone Acacia tree somewhere in the Sahel in Africa.
I found the image on Flickr, and changed the colors just a bit to brighten it up.
It matches my username nicely, which is all pretty straightforward.
And of course the reason for the Acacia tree in the first place all goes back to my consuming obsession with the botanical world.

Mine is a picture of the 3 main characters in the IT Crowd, a British Channel 4 comedy programme. It's just complete silliness. Moss is an obvious Aspie, but Roy and their boss Jen are also socially inept and they all manage to get into ridiculous situations, every episode. Chris O'Dowd, who plays Roy, has a starring role in 'Bridesmaids'.

I felt that this avatar was more appropriate than anything else I'd use. She's Haruhi Suzumiya, and it'd be a tad bit redundant to say where she's from.

My avatar is a Unionist one.

It shows the home nations of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, emblazoned with the Union Jack, the flag of the union of those nations, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Your combination of username and avatar gives me cognitive dissonance.
