Oh, let's have a look. Of the regular beers in the store (which doesn't account for what I'd actually drink if I could), it's usually:

Guinness Foreign Extra Stout / Irish version (7.5%) - foreign stout
Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted (4.2%) - bitter
Harviestoun Schiehallion (4.8%) - craft pilsener
Hawkshead Brodie's Prime (4.9%) - stout
Hawkshead Lakeland Gold (4.4%) - golden ale
Hop Back Summer Lightning (5%) - golden ale
Lancaster Amber (3.7%) - bitter
Lancaster Black (4.6%) - stout
Manns Brown Ale (2.8%) - mild
Saltaire Blonde (4%) - golden ale
Saltaire Cascade Pale Ale (4.8%) - American pale ale
Theakston's Old Peculier (5.6%) - old ale

That's the beers that are currently at my local bottle shop. They have changed gradually since 2008 when I took a photo of that beer section, but otherwise not.

I like many, many, many more beers than these though but they're not available locally. I don't mind Fullers Bengal Lancer (5.3%) - strong bitter, which is available at another shop.

I don't mind Samuel Adams Boston Lager. It isn't a bad Vienna - we get that at our local bottle shop. I wouldn't choose to drink it regularly though by any means - I'd prefer Harviestoun's Schiehallion or similar instead.

I also like the scotch you can get from Dewars, all types(including the Signature scotch, which I've heard a lot of people don't like for some reason)

Do you not like the likes of Laphroaig?

No specific brand as I'm still in the process of trying them all. I've never really liked the taste of beer but once I get used to drinking all this cider I might try some pale ales, or at least something that is low on the bitterness scale.

You're better researching and asking about the beers that you choose - a lot of pale ales are very hoppy and bitter and that's what you don't want.

Doesn't sound like a bad enough pint, that. :)

You live in Chicago? Get yourself to Goose Island and try some of their Imperial Stouts, man! Try their Bourbon County range - I think I had one of those in the past. 13%! They have coffee, vanilla and ordinary.

Get to it - you'll soon stop claiming that Guinness Extra Stout is your favourite beer. ;)

Hell, even the Goose Island IPA I had the other day wasn't bad and we don't generally get Goose Island beers here.

Red wine at the weekend sometimes.
One bottle split between Friday and Saturday late evenings.

I don't know if I would or not. The only place to buy alcohol here in my town is Wal-Mart, because 2 of the 3 liquor shops got bought out by local restaurant chains looking to expand their profits(and doing quite well, I might add) and the other one got shut down and turned into a coffee shop because their license was revoked for some odd reason.

And since I live in a small town, I'm at the mercy of whatever Wal-Mart chooses to put on the shelves, which is basically what I listed there+ a few others+ a variety of different wine(looking to start trying some later on)+ Mike's Hard Lemonade.

So yeah....not a lot of choices around here. When I move to Seattle with my family in a few months though, I definately plan on getting out and trying some more stuff though =D

I like both ales and lager, though I have been the formers more often lately.

The ale market seems to have increased in the UK in that it is easy to find in most supermarkets and pubs.

my favourite ales are:

* Wychwood Hobgoblin
* Fullers London Pride
* Fullers ESB
* Meantime Pale Ale

Some of the Meantime stuff is very good indeed.

If you like Fuller's, you might want to try their Bengal Lancer.

Living in Mexico, my beer of choice is Indio (A beer from the same company that makes dos equis or tecate), but I like imported beer, specially since in Mexico basically all beers are lagers. I like Guinness and St. Peter's. I also like Whiskey and Irish cream like Bailey's (I'm starting to notice a pattern here). I drink tequila as well, specially in palomas (Tequila and grapefruit soda) I also like Cuba libres, but not rum on it's own. Yep, that's it.

Can you not get Cucapá Chupacabras Pale Ale? That's a pale ale from Mexico and apparently it's OK enough.

It's actually harder to get here than Guinness Draught and it's more expensive.
