I love animals, especially cats. I'm always reading about them. I'm always thinking about them, too.

Right now I'm obsessed with pigs and wild boars. :D
But I think I'm the only one here who has that particular obsession 8)

It's quite interesting how many people, Aspies or otherwise are interested in cats. I do like cats myself but they don't fascinate me as much as other animals, personally.

I love animals! I've just made a video about my rabbit. I tried to make it humorous and my carer says it is quite funny!

But I do have an odd sense of humour...

Rabbits are my favourite animals and I also like hamsters, rats, mice, degus, dwarf hamsters, guinea pigs and spiny mice! Here is a photo of an Egyptian spiny mouse:

Yes I love animals, and have had a strong interest in them since I was very young.

Some of the animals I'm most interested in:

Bonobos
Lemurs
Seahorses
Moles
Otters
Whales and dolphins
Bower birds and birds of paradise
Chameleons
The wildlife of Australia, New Zealand, the Galapagos and Madagascar, because of their isolated evolution and uniqueness.

When I was a child I was obsessed with dogs. I've always had cats, and also guinea pigs.

I don't have dogs... pretty busy so might not be able to give any pets I own enough attention.

I walk dogs at a local animal shelter. :)

Right, I'll try again:

My major current obsession is animals, that is animals with hands, and no tails, big brians, opposable thumbs, long childhoods...
In other words apes!! !! ! My favourites are bonobos and orangutans, I also unclude humans in my studies, I like to decode human behaviour as if I was a primatologist, it's more fun that way.
I have a very large ape and monkey related collection, I have books, figurines, toys, posters, framed pictures, tshirts, newspaper cutouts, cards (that I don't send, just keep), calendars etc! I recently bought about 11 items, 9 of which are soft toys from a car boot sale and 2 are cards that play the animal's noise when you open them. I am running out of shelf space in my room and I need to clear a new shelf or two when I get back from rabbit's house.

I love animals but don't know all the species of animals. I had a zoo as a teen, with rats, ferrets, hedgehogs, lizards, cats, a dog, gerbils, birds, etc.

my parents won't let me have anything other than cats at the moment. I would like to have a rat again.

Reading that post was a bit surreal.

I kept checking to make sure it was teh Rabbit making the post, and thinking how much he had become like MONKEY.

I'm always doing that, I did it on facebook today posting pictures on his wall thinking I was on my account, even though I'm on his laptop.

I love small furry mammals. They're just so small and cute, but yet have little personalities of their own.

My first and greatest favourite is the gerbil (about which I know lots and lots). I remember choosing to write my required creative writing stories based on my gerbil when I was in grade 6 because I couldn't think of anything else to write a story about. I accidentally bred them in high school b/c the pet shop accidentally gave us 1 of each gender; it was an interesting genetics lesson when the 2 brown gerbils had a golden gerbil in the litter.

I haven't had a pet in a few years now, but when I move into my new apartment, I am thinking of maybe getting a different sort of similar creature that doesn't gnaw so much as a gerbil (maybe a Chinese hamster, as they look pretty cute, too).

A quite interesting article about animals' senses.

Quote:
..many researchers think that magnetic receptors probably exist in the head of turtles and perhaps other animals. These might be based on crystals of magnetite, which align with the Earth's magnetic field and could pull on some kind of stretch receptor or hair-like cell as it changes polarity. The mineral has already been found in some bacteria, and in the noses of fish like salmon and rainbow trout, which also seem to track the Earth's magnetic field as they migrate.
