Judging by your age, it's quite likely it's genetic. Bad posture can speed up the process, though. I've found bad posture is really the only way to help the chronic pain. :?

There are many causes of scoliosis, including congenital spine deformities, genetic conditions, neuromuscular problems, and limb length inequality. one of my legs is an inch shorter than another, as is one of my arms. my scoliosis is 14+ degrees right, between T8-T14. when god made me, the assembly line ran outta parts so i was assembled from the irregular leftover castoff parts bin. :hmph:
