Since my first post I've kinda gained a more positive attitude towards furries... Now, I've never disliked furries, but my friend ShenLong has helped me realise that alot of furries are actually just normal people, with a harmless interest that is geeky at the most. As for the erm, more racy parts of the fandom, I'm not really bothered by that anymore. People can like whatever they want IMO, and it only becomes wrong and a problem if they hurt someone or something, which most furries wouldn't do anyway.
The truth is, alot of furries aren't hyper dramatic, hypersexual or odd in a bad way. Most are kind, decent people who just have an interest in cartoon animals. Why does everybody assume that it has to be sexual? And even if it is, it's the 21st century, they aren't harming everybody, and they're just cartoons. Is it slightly odd? Yes, but then again I wouldn't hold it against somebody if they liked "adult" furry art. But the thing is, alot of furries don't even like that side of it. Furries are ok people, just avoid the crazies and you should be fine.
You're right to a degree, Sci. Many of these people do have fetishes that involve the fandom, but that's not usually why they're in the fandom in the first place. The key is how they present themselves as people. Many won't divulge anything unless they somehow get to that topic. It's like regular porn. Because I have the mature filter off to view violent or idealogically sensitive art on Furaffinity, as a side-effect I end up finding out about my friends being into fetishes through their favorites and not through the act of talking to them. Who counts talking about porn or sex to be among their everyday topics of discussion? Very few people because that's dumb.
Some furries feel the need to be overly sexual, but they act like this only around fandom members. Oh, the things that happened at that party last week, I couldn't tell you. Is it wrong? Only when it hurts someone or becomes annoying. Are all these guys zoophiles? Most likely, in the loosest, most unconscious way and by that, I mean people with an anthropomorphic fetish. Bestiality is extremely frowned upon in this community, and while there are admittant zoophiles who are actually a hundred percent into that stuff, I assume most of them usually care about animals enough that they'd never practice. Even after all the things I've seen while being oppositional towards most furries(but not necessarily the fandom). I only know one admitted zoophile and he's so incredibly down to Earth and against Furries being lewd off the internet that I kind of look up to him even though I've only met him once IRL.
So yeah. Lol, every time I get into or make a topic pertaining to this, I have to elaborate and confirm and dispel and elaborate. People coming in should probably read the OP before writing down that furries are sick or pure fetishists. We're not having that problem now, but yeah.
Furry/anthro is also an art style, like I've probably said, and most people interact with each other through art. I'd spam some more but I'm not in the mood.
