I believe they spent too much time on the artwork and GUI.

Knowing what was previously "wrong with me" has turned into a big "what's better about me" since I realized I operate under the AS/OS. It's like people notice me now.

Is AS the neurological equivalent of Linux?

That's how I explain AS to people.
NT people are running Windows in their brain
AS people are running Linux in their brain.

Thing is... there are many, many different flavors of Linux out there.

I heard this quote on a autism documentary recently...
"If you've met one autistic...... you've met one autistic."
That's cool Pete!

You are very likely an Aspie.

I agree with everyone.

Just like Windows, everyone knows NTs' mindsets as much as they know the inner workings of Windows. But few people know autistics as much as they know Linux from the inside out. And Pete's right. There are plenty of distributions out there. One can either be Ubuntu, or the other can be Red Hat, Mandriva, Linspire, Maemo, Android, etc. No autistic is alike.

Let me add about OS X: that's what some people, especially curebies and the bigots at Autism Speaks, want us autistics to be. Easy to use, uniform, conforming, and pleasing to the eye.

I also really like this! :D

Wonders if someone can draw a parallel to how Linux is a minority overall (eg. on desktops) but more common for servers and supercomputers.

That is definitely true. I think that those of us with AS are more specialized for certain tasks (special interests) than others. Others are less specialized, but they are still necessary.

Fedora 16 came out two weeks ago!

I wonder what goes through their minds when they do what they do.

I tend to think alot of the time it's "nothing", they just run on "autopilot" for NT stuff

I really wish I could relinquish control over neural functions to my subconscious again. It seems to be one of the un-unlearnable [sic] things.

Hey, who said anything about a subconscious? There's some evidence that "people" just do stuff and then make up stories for it later as if their was consciousness though involved (retconning the real process). For some research in this area, look at the stuff on "choice blindness" http://www.lucs.lu.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Hall_Johansson-2009-You_dont_know_what_you_want-New_Scientist.pdf (I think there was a cool bit of research involving brainscans in a similar setup, but I can't find it right now)

It still seems different. Maybe what I mean is keeping involuntary and routine tasks involuntary and routine. Hours of being understimulated by dull classes left me trying to usurp the mechanisms behind that by applying some form of training on myself. Now, I think I have too much control over some of the hormones, and the oxytocin control being faulty in the last few weeks might turn my light-moderate AS into moderate-severe AS. However, the level of control I can exert can be beneficial as I suspect that I may have had a meltdown during a social event if the adrenaline output/(generic fight-or-flight response or inexplicable anger?) was left unchecked.

ADDITION:
I might add that I am not a dunce and do not engage in substance abuse. Maybe it is some form of self-hypnosis, but I still lack explanations for why I can control so much.

You should create a constructed world. The focus and time you will devote (if it becomes a special interest) will make it that much more valuable.
