I agree with this. Port sounds very appealing. In reality it's often not appropriate for a situation. It's frequently best as a small glass with dessert, or a very small glass for tasting. For day to day drinking a lighter "table wine" is going to be a better choice.

Sorta.

It's all preference. I know people that almost always have a bottle in the fridge--some ports stay good for awhile after being opened. Some people like their after dinner drinks--I used to have a glass or so whilst working on papers.

And it's good with cigars too... :D
