Febreeze....um, except I spray toxic levels apparently.

This right here is why even as a female from the American South, I prefer to live with guys. Might be a generalization, but females are hard to live with for ridiculous reasons like this.
I'm sorry for your situation...I don't have any advice because at this point I'd be belligerent and asking everyone why they thought it was their business in the first place.
I'm guessing it's pretty difficult to find a place to live that's affordable and that's why you were sharing...I'd say just do your best to find some non-crazy girls for the next round.

I'm not allowed to live with non-related males. :(
Indeed, I'm laid back about this stuff...it's weird apparently.
Thanks.
Um, well, I didn't think they'd be dumb.
Next time I get my own room.
I will survive if that happens.

I do mine every weekend. I only have a 5kg machine so it's usually 2-3 loads. And I only have a weeks worth of work shirts so they have to be washed at the end of each week to wear again. Some non-clothing items such as towels and linens get left to the wayside for weeks as I don't have enough room to hang them to dry after washing everything else (should be washing them mid week but I've been too lazy).

some clothes need to be hand washed which is a chore that is a chore to even think about...I have been putting off having to hand wash my trench coat style jacket for the last three days...but its cold out and I cant afford to go without a coat at risk of catching the flu therefore I must do it soon...perhaps Tomorrow...But for now I should just think about sleeping :D as its late...

I do my washing every day. and then i do a second load of sheets and towels. I hate using a dirty towel. My sheets get washed every second day alternating between my kids bed sheets the other day.

Ugh, deadinhead just reminded me of the pile of hand washing I need to do....And really, avoiding doing your laundry when you're 19 and going to college is so normal it's a stereotype!! !! !! !

I do laundry every day because I am washing for six people.

Here is my suggestion for you.

Buy two laundry baskets. When you put on your night clothes at the end of the day, put your clothes in one basket and your underwear in the other basket. Put your night clothes in the basket with your underwear in the morning when you dress. When a basket fills up, wash the clothes. Then make sure you put them away.

Wash and change your bed linens once a week also. Wash your bedspread/comforter once a month. Wash the curtains in your room four times a year, I do mine when the seasons change.

If things need to be ironed, do it before you hang them up in the closet, unless your closet is very cramped which will wrinkle the clothes. In that case, iron them the night before you plan to wear them.

As for proving it to your parents, you do not have to do that. You are over 18 and you won't be in their home, so it's really not their business unless you plan on showing up with months worth of dirty laundry for your mother to do. If they don't believe you when you tell them that you are washing clothes, don't worry about it. You know what you are or aren't doing, even if they don't.

I'm a fanatic about clean clothes and doing laundry. I hate to know there is a basket of laundry waiting to be washed, so I jump to the job as soon as the basket is nearing 3/4 full (just enough to justify running the machine). Nobody has touched my laundry since I was old enough to reach the controls on the machine, and I won't let the maid touch my laundry either. No help is welcome with washing, and no ironing/no folding... I do it my way ("perfectly to suit my own taste"). I also do my wife's laundry, and she appreciates it since she's not so into doing it herself unless she has to.

I felt the same way about clothes when I was your age. I even took it one step farther and dressed in hippie fashion, because I thought that wearing clothes should be an art.

Um, so....
*I never wash my bed sheets unless they are dirty because NOBODY is allowed on my bed aside from me, and I don't care if I sleep in my own filth, it's comfy.
*I don't want to spend money on washing period, but I will spend a minimal amount because apparently I have to...so I'd be at the VERY least washing every 2 weeks.
*I don't iron things
*They are paying for my housing :|
*I don't show up like that, but I wait a month to do it...or more 8O

Apparently my parents didn't act that way, so I shouldn't either.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE clothes...they make me feel skinny, pretty, and artistic.
Yet, my parents don't want me to bring as many clothes as I did last time because I don't wash them enough (I have enough I can let them stay in a laundry basket and still have outfits in the closet for at least a month...pants-wise. Theoretically, I could do this for shirts for 3 months).
I usually do laundry once a month......AHHHH, THAT IS AWFUL. (apparently)
I should be doing it once a freaking week.
Once I get back to college, I might have a busy life.
I think every 2-3 weeks is a reasonable compromise.
I will work on doing that, but my dad thinks I am a liar.
(whereas, nobody told me at ALL how to succeed last time...now I have guidelines).
My question is:

*How do I prove I am doing laundry every 2-3 weeks?
*How often do you (specify if college student, parent, or other) do your laundry?
*If you had enough clothes to make the same habit that I did....would you?
Thanks so much!
I am freaking stressed from this. -_- >:(

My suggestions:
1) Think of washing schedules by layers. The closer to your skin, the more frequently you launder.
These things, including socks, are easily hand washed in a sink.
2) Don't just leave your stuff in a hamper. Maybe you could buy one of those storage stools or
something like that for your dirty stuff. Something that looks nice and is useful. Use old socks
full of stuff like damp-rid or baking soda to neutralize odors/ prevent mildew.
3) Maybe you could use your washing time to video chat w/ the parents? What better proof could
they ask for? You, in the laundry, fluffing and folding, and chatting.

My answer about having so many clothes...Personally I HATE doing laundry. I would stock up on hats, scarves, jewelry, shoes etc. Accessories you could use to transform anything in an instant. Maybe you could get by with fewer clothes but still really express yourself that way.
:BONUS: Most accessories do not need to be washed, only wiped down. And they look pretty as decoration.

I too am artistic and love wearing accessories I've made myself.

As far as a laundry schedule, I'm not "allowed" to do laundry. The cold water connection to our washer leaks and has to be shut off directly after each load. It seems I have the tendency to become easily distracted and "flood the whole stinkin' basement". According to my husband anyway.

How nice to have so many clothes. I'm a giant so my choices are very limited.

I don't see what the big deal is unless it's a problem for others, which apparently it is. You dad probably just wants to help you. He's been doing it for a long time and might just be frustrated with your "resistance." Did the school call him? That's always so stressful. They practically come out and say you're a bad parent.

Parents really do want the best for their children but they're human as well. The problems come up when the children start having ideas of their own - which is what we all want, but within "reason" - a subjective term with parents usually on the more conservative side because they know and the instinct is to protect.

If you really intend to do your laundry every two weeks, you might text them pictures of you actually doing it holding a current newspaper. Your parents might get a chuckle out of that.

As for your roommate, you do have to share. It's a matter of mutual respect to be "neat." Where do your clothes go when they are clean? Just put them back in the drawer or on a hanger in your closet - keeping them separate from the clean clothes. Out of sight, out of mind. Just as long as you don't forget.

I like doing laundry, 3-4 times per week. I find it very soothing - my sanctuary when the kids were younger. I like to iron, too. I also have all the machines in my garage which makes a big difference. You're young. I understand that you don't want to spend all your time doing something so mundane but, unfortunately, just doing it is one of the things we need to learn as part of growing up.

Even if you don't notice it, you sweat at night sometimes, and also skin oils get on your sheets. Also, dead skin flakes off and gets on them. Sheets are dirty at the end of the week after being on the bed for seven days. No, you might not be able to see it, but you can smell it. Unless you get up and shower every morning, the smell will cling to you.

Why wouldn't you want to spend your money on washing, period? It's something that must be done, unless you want to walk around dirty.

It takes an hour at most to do a load of wash and put it away. It's also not that much money when you compare the inconvenience of being dirty to the small cost of using a washer.
