Usually the point of an advert isn't to make someone think "oo, I'd like to buy that!", but instead ensure they have heard of it so choose it over brands they haven't heard of when it is on the shelf (or wherever).

I used to fall for ads that were to do with my obsessions. I pestered my parents to get me a GameCube because I was enthralled by the advert for Pokémon Colleseum.

I hate all commercials, even the more funny ones, especially during a movie which would be done a lot sooner without them. Hate having to spend hours and hours on it.

That said, I like watching parodies, or "poops" on youtube of various ads, like the shamwow or stuff Billy Mays advertised. Generally, though, I find it hard to believe anyone is ever convinced to buy anything based off of an ad and believe they must be pretty impulsive to do so.

All that said, I can think of some adverts, such as one used a few years ago (again by Coca-Cola) where it showed a Grand Theft Auto style character walk into gas station and walk up to the person at the Till threateningly, then the scene changed and Bugsy Malone's "You Give a Little Love" starts playing and he buys a coke. Also the Orange add (the ones they have in cinemas that at first seem to mock their own product).

I can see how these adds are clever and appreciate how they don't just throw a product in my face, occasionally find myself looking up the people who made them after seeing them.
