Not usually, though I do talk to rabbit's dog when I walk her.

Oh yes. I chatter away to my cat, even though she never replies
I often have a 'conversation' with my cat, for example:

Me (seeing Looby appear from the garden): Hello Looby, is it cup of tea time?
Looby (heading towards the kitchen): Yes, and biscuit time for me.
Me (following her): OK. I'll get the kettle on then.
Looby (purring around my legs): Don't forget the biscuits mum.
Me: (putting biscuits in her bowl): There you go, Loobs

etc etc.

In case you hadn't guessed, I don't get out much!

Yes, but they're short. Neither of us are great conversationalists. :)

My cat Suberdean always meows after I say something, so sometimes I act like she is arguing with me.

Come to think of it, our other cat does that too. :chin:

She's just trying to give you some helpful advice, even if it may seem a little harsh sometimes.

She doesn't know, she's just a cat! 8O

The majority of my conversations with my cats are apologies. They're always under foot. You'd think after 14 years they would have figured out how to NOT get stepped on.

I'll have actual conversations with the dog.
I'll ask her: Cuddles? Supper? Outside? and she'll wag and jump up and down for which ever she wants at the moment.

Less productive conversations are usually along the lines of: "Hey sugarbear, how was your day? Did you miss me?" or "No, I don't care if you want the squirrel, you can't have it" or the always effective "Quit talking trash at that dog! You'll get us both bitten!".

This thread reminds me of the Gary Shandeling Show that was on TV in the Late 80s. I love it. :)

My wife and I always have conversations with our cat and ratties. As several others have already pointed out, those conversations are often better than those with other humans. :)

I never had a conversation with pets or other animals & I find it kind of stupid & annoying when others do it. However I think it's extremely CUUUUUTE when a girl I like does it

I keep asking my cat what I should get from the store, but he doesn't respond.

I will talk to animals, but won't talk their part. They can do that bit themselves :P

If I pretend to talk for an animal .. it is for a laugh with another person.

I talk to my cat all the time. :)

For some reason, it makes me feel good.

Good listeners, but not really good conversationalists :? One of mine just mews and meows, and the other talks about food all the time.
