It used to be, but it got demoted. It's what happens when words become kewl and are overused.

Similarly, 'damn', 'fart', 'snot', and especially 'dork' aren't quite as 'strong' words as they once were.

30 years from now, everyone will be saying f*** in kids' shows, and no one will bat an eyelash. Of course, the word will then no longer be used to denote the act of intercourse, because it will have become 'quaint' and 'cute' in the perception of the public.

I dunno, once I got banned from a chatbox because I said "damn". Damn moderator
Some people would get offended by crap, too.

EDIT: I didn't actually said damn moderator. Just used that word in her presence, talking about something else.

Crap is as much a curse word as the word Sh!t is. As a kid I was taught they were 7 curse words & they were bad for me to say around parents & teachers & other adults. My peers also used this list of 7 curse words & these words are

Crap
Sh!t
Damn
Ass
S#ck
F#ck
P!ss

My opinion is that who the hell cares what is a swear word? They're all just words to me.

They shouldn't be used in formal situations, yes, but attaching a social stigma around them? I got a problem with that.

I used to think it was a swear word when I was a child, but as my brother and I got older, we started using it more and more and now my brother and I and even our parents use it all the time in our everyday language.

I say "crap" all the time, just not the big swear words like "f*ck" or *sh*t".

In middle school once, my language arts teacher was shocked at me for saying "that sucks".
...What? :?

I don't think "crap" is a swear word. It's often used as a substitute for the "sh" word. It probably is more acceptable however to say "crap" in contexts where it doesn't refer to feces or defecation than when it does. It's also not an appropriate word to use in a job interview.
