I'd eat any of them once, especially if I was in some "exotic" context where I was feeling open to new experiences.

The one that I would have the most trouble with would probably be duckling. I don't really know why.

Cockroach and cricket would definitely require some mental preparation.

I find it strange that rabbit and veal and deer are on that list. To me, those three are well within the realm of normal.

Speaking of seal meat, I recently re-read Northern Lights (a.k.a. The Golden Compass). There's a bit where Lyra is at the home of the armored bears, and eats a kidney and blubber ripped straight out of a seal carcass. The book says that the kidney is delicious and warm, and that the blubber tastes like cream and hazelnuts. Sounds good to me!

No. I'd find someone else who would.

I imagine century egg is the worst smell ever. It's looks like one of those foods that were discovered by accident (someone left an egg under a pile of fertilizer for a year) - it just shows how brave the Chinese were in that they actually ate the 'accident'.

yes to most. i can't see people useing cuteness as a reason not to eat something? if you don't need to, i can see that but what on that list doesn't have it's own cuteness?

As long as its not about life and death, i would eat anything except the whale (who is protected because their are less enough left) and the cat. Its less about cuteness but cats are more human for me then human. ^^ So I am able to feel with them, understand them and so on, I sometimes think I am more connected to them as I am to humans. So I am able to feel the feelings of cats and humans, so I dont want to eat them. Anyway if its about life and death I think you would it anything at last. So I dont think i would kill humans or known to me cats to eat them, but if the die by themself i dont think that i would care about eating them. At least flesh is flesh.

Only if they're Irish...

As for the list, I have or would eat everything except cats, dogs, horses, and monkeys.

Eating horses is very popular in France.

Godders puts the eurocrats right on the consumption of horses:

^^^
Ahh... The EU.

My problem is that I've known too many cats, dogs, and horses socially... And eating monkeys is a bit too much like eating Irish babies.

For every other animal I say, if god did not want them to be eaten he would not have made them so delicious.

Sorry but I don't like this thread at all and wouldn't eat any of these. I'm a semi vegetarian and when I do eat meat its mostly fish. The reasons are mainly twofold: because I care about animals and we can probably survive without eating them, and because of my digestion (often get heartburn from eating meat). My metabolism has been much better since I went the vegetarian path.

My sister, an aunt and a close female friend are all vegetarians although they do eat fish so I guess that makes them piscatorians.

Not a religion or anything, just a choice.

Would you eat...
Guinea pig - yes
rabbit - already have (it was delicious)
horse - yes
deer - already have, delicious
whale - already have, delicious
squirrel - already have. gamey, but alright
crocodile - already have, tastes like rubbery chicken
cat - almost certainly have
dog - already have, tasted like (and was sold as) beef
monkey - yes
seal - yes
ostrich - already have, delicious
octopus -already have, was like chewing a rubber band.
dormouse - yes
pangolin - I would have to do some research first... Armadillos carry leprosy and I have no idea about these.
cockroach - have almost certainly done so, but not on purpose (would not do so intentionally)
crickets - already have, couldn't get past the legs.
scorpion - already have, crunchy and surprisingly tasty
snake - already have, delicious
veal - already have, delicious
duckling - already have, delicious.
penguin - yes
zebra - yes

you forgot human... and I would at least try it if there were no consequences for doing so.

In my opinion, the "pet" argument doesn't really work, since most Westerners seem perfectly happy for the rabbit to have this dual role.

Incidentally, I have actually eaten a century egg. It was even more terrible than I thought it would be!
