Tea, coffee etc contain unique blends of xanthine alkaloids
including caffiene. AFAIK tea has greater emphasis on theophylline, cocoa has more theobromine & coffee & cola have a more sraighforward caffiene profile. This accounts for the differing effects they produce.

L-Theanine and is said to cause relaxation which would clearly
reduce the effects of xanthine alkaloids. Regardless if its
the L-theanine, lowwer levels of caffiene or different mix of xanthines a typical cup of tea is a far weaker stimulant than a typical cup of coffee.
