For some reason i don't remember how it was in the 70's and 80's :P
But, my favorite place is Taco Bell where I can get a meal deal for like $3.50. plus I just really like the food.

My dad decided to eat at KFC once while i was with him and said it had been a long time since he had lunch there and it used to be a good deal but now was a complete rip off. i think it was about $15 for the two of us.

A place he does like is Carl's Jr. (flame broiled burgers like Burger King). He used to work at a Carl's Jr back when he was in high school in the 80's and says that it's hardly changed at all. Even the decor is about the same.

Inflation is driving up the costs, be sure to clip your coupons. I actually think most places are getting better, I remember when fast food restaurants were all extremely tacky looking, usually dirty and had nothing other then greasy processed garbage not that I cared as young child who had and still has a very limited food pallet to choose from. Its a bit better now, now a days Wendy's has real fresh cut fries for example and the ingredients across the board are have become slightly better, with some public and government pressure. In addition establishments like Mickey D's are going to great lengths clean up and renovate their buildings, one local one even have a fish tank, another other a fireplace! Maybe the locations in the USA haven't received the same love. Burger King is a notable chain that has fallen far behind though.

Remember its fast food, it is what it is. Dirty, Fast and Cheap as a T-shirt I once saw said.

My parents ocasionally mention how when they were recently married & working on Saturday they would eat at McDonalds for breakfast Saturday mornings & it was a huge treat for em because because it cost them each over an hour of work. My dad worked in a fast-food type place when he was on high-school for abit & he didn't eat there much because he couldn't afford it. Nowadays they say fast-food workers have to eat there because they're too poor to buy grcoeries.
