Does anybody remember gas under $1 a gallon?

Now, most Africans (should they have cars) usually pay less than Americans.

It's still expensive relative to their income, though.

Oh yeah, I totally remember gas being 35 cents a gallon. I can hear my mother, in my head, complaining about it, like it was yesterday.

I remember gas being at around 27 cents per gallon in the late 1960s.

As a kid I remember in 2002 many gas stations had gas just below 1$. The Sams Club at New Port Richey in particular had .75 per gallon gas.
It was fun watching the numbers go up fast back then.
After that year I never saw a sub dollar gas price sign again. It was around $1.30 in 2003, $2 in 2005 and $3 in 2008. Then the stock market collapsed that one week, they plummeted and they were around $1.50 in 2009. A few months later it was already back to above $3 unable to go below that for the next 5 years.

I remember gas at .89-.98 a gallon US when I was in HS. And I saw it over $5/gal when I lived in SoCal.

I could only remember up to 99 cents per gallon. I was too young to remember anything before that.

I have never seen gas under a dollar but I remember back in 2001 when my dad would say $1.30 was expensive so he drove to another town while we were in Washington state where it was $1.23 a gallon and filled it. I remember back in 2006 when gas was two something a gallon and my ex boyfriend was complaining about how "ret*d" the prices were and hated how much money to give me for gas whenever he wanted me to take him.
