Why am I supposed to be offended? We call ourselves aspies all the time and are not offended by that word, even though it kind of makes us sound like a deadly venomous snake that Cleopatra used in an act of suicide.

Maybe it's the equivalent of "you spaz!" I read that in the UK that word is considered very offensive towards people who suffer from spasms or epilepsy, and they even censored a Mario Party game that used the word.

"Sperg" looks for me like "ret*d" or "spaz" (maybe more like "ret*d"). "Sperg" may appear to be a mockery of an Aspie with contempt to him/her.

I wouldn't be offended. I'd be a bit confused, though. I'd think how big an idiot the guy yelling "sperg" looks, and walk away.

No. You gotta try harder than that to offend me.

It may be also interesting when the word "sperg" was used first time. And why it was used.

It depends on the circumstances, really. If it was a friend saying it jokingly, I'd probably laugh. If it was someone else trying to insult me, I'd get pissed off at them.

It would be very hard for someone to offend me with any word set. The more a person tries to offend me the more I am going to take it as a compliment.

When I was younger I sometimes said "thanks for a compliment" when someone says some theoretically offensive words.

The behavior of someone who would say loudly: "Look at this sperg!" would be stupid. It might look as malicious insult and making fun of someone with AS. It would be impolite and rude. One who says it might feel contempt to an Aspie and want to "painfully" humilitate an Aspie, maybe because he would view an Aspie as someone who could be also offensively named as "ret*d".

For me the word "sperg" may contain special contempt and humilitation for an Aspie. Even vulgar slurs have not such a "specific" offensiveness "decidicated" to Aspies.

No. I don't understand how this could be a derogatory comment.

No.I never heard of it before, and I would really just think the person using it has some problem in their head.

Until a year ago, I thought it was just the name of a Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy character. I'd never seen it used as a slur before I knew it was one. :?
