Yeah I like it hot. Its very bitter cold(I'm in the Southern US were ice tea is more common than hot).

I tried commercial "crap" brands and found they were very different tasting. I think
age greatly effects the taste. I had a box of green tea my father bought me many years
ago it set for 2 years and oxidized into black tea. It was a good tasting iced tea.

There is research showing there is also some different anti-oxidants in black tea so ideally a person would drink a little of both green and black to get the full range of
benefits.

I read something the other day that suggested milk in tea reduces the health benefits.

Yes TheMachine1, the thing with the supermarket/health store green tea is that its stale, very poor quality and tastes of nothing but "green" - green anything, grass, hay..I imagine its anti-oxidants are low in fact i know it from how i feel after comparing the two. Proper tea costing perhaps double/triple upwards is very hard to find. They are like two different things altogether, the quality one being very pure and refreshing in a medicinal way and fragrant to taste but especialy there is a subtle sweetness that is lacking in the poor quality.

There are some good internet stores worth checking out. I like Lung Ching (Dragons well) though the quality i know can vary but at the moment im drinking a nice Northern China tea.

Stale stuff is what 95% of it is. Or a cheap Gunpowder variety.

My favourite tea is sassafras. Too bad it's illegal because of the f'cking FDA.

I see because it can be used to synthesize MDMA. Thats interesting, have you tried it? Whats it taste and feel like?

It feels just like tea, it tastes sort of like rootbeer... back before sassafras was legal. It tastes a little like anise and licorice.

You can buy sassafras online at
www.mazatecgarden.com
and then maybe make tea from it

...never mind..not for human consumption....

Loose leaf is real tasty, the stuff in a tea bag just doesn't hold a candle to it.

I had a co-worker bring some back from china. Now that is some really good tea.

Sassafras trees grow in the part of Texas I'm in. The main flavor agent is safrole which
is used to make MDMA as Manalitwist mentioned. But thats not why the FDA frowns on it
sale for human consumption. Its has liver toxicity and is carcinogenic.

Safrole : 3,4-methylenedioxy-propenylbenzene

The safe flavor that replaced it for root beer is:

3,4-methylenedioxy-benzaldehyde

You should be able to buy root beer flavor in many stores so try it before you mess with
sassafras. Though people in South Lousiana still put sassafras in some food. Oh in fairness perhaps 1% of all cancer is from the spices we eat anyway so a little sassafras
every now again may not be a major risk factor.

I totally agree about the loose tea. The tea bought in China is the one. They export all the crap stuff by the megaton to the rest of the world.
