I had to look up "externalizing costs". That is what they are doing where I work

As a driver, I hate cars too close behind me, especially at night, with the lights.

I had to walk through west to central London a few weeks ago with my Dad. Even though It was nearing midnight the traffic was always at a standstill, people would overexercise the right to beep all the time. I didn't get the notion because if pedestrians are crossing the road then they would have just reached an inch further in the queue about a few seconds later, it's not like its an open road. It's insignificant. Yet for some reason they had this kind of arrogance about them (one of the reasons I don't usually go to London) as if they felt superior because they were inside of a metal cage that's capable of running you down.
As for being in a car, it only really makes me anxious. Especially if it's somewhere I've never been.

I'm similar to tetris--I kind of like traffic because it means the drive takes longer so I get to hear more songs on the radio.

My mom and I went out for our weekly lunch together and the traffic was beyond awful. But that's because they're repaving the entire road right now. My mother was planning to eat at the food court at the mall because she wanted to do some shopping there, but we almost didn't go there because we removing inches at a time. By the time we got through the worst of it, however, we were pretty close so we went to the food court after all. But mom no longer felt like shopping and she didn't have time anyway. I didn't stay at the mall and take a cab home because I knew it would take an eternity for it to arrive.

Well, it can't be helped, they need to repave that road before winter. Then it will be nice and new and ready to be wrecked and full of potholes by weather and heavy traffic by next summer.

I hate traffic jams and traffic backups too, this coming from someone who likes railroad crossings! I hate getting caught up in traffic although I don't drive, and like the original poster of this topic, I'm glad I don't have a car or drive either! I too have road rage and I'm afraid of causing an accident and am in fear of making other drivers mad! I'm also careless! Trust me, YOU DO NOT want me behind the wheel!

I like taking the bus, although I hate it when they come late or when you have to wait a long time for them. I mean sometime after 5pm, on Saturdays and Sundays, and on some Holidays, they run every hour and stop running earlier in the day than on weekdays! I also hate missing buses and when buses break down! But while buses don't save time, they save money and help you get exercise. I take the bus where I live and I like it (Tucson, which has its share of traffic problems but not as bad as Phoenix!)

Unlike the original maker of this post, I actually like trains and although many hate that and I can understand, I for one like watching them and don't mind waiting for them to go by, unless I have to go to the bathroom and that happened to me once when I was 5, or if there's something I'm trying to do but I rarely have that problem!

I also like to ride trains, including light rail and streetcars. We have a streetcar system, it opened in late July 2014. I only wish we also had commuter rail in Tucson and in Phoenix, I would like to ride trains more.

I also encourage public transportation. It's not time efficient but it saves money. It can be a drag to deal with other passengers but at least you don't have to watch the road unless you're the driver and you can sit back and relax! And I think buses, trains too, are safer than cars!

I admit I like cars, sometimes but not as much as I did as a little kid, and cars have improved the quality of life, but they've also brought out the worst in many of us!
