i feel similarly. i think, what i observe to be, the stillness of mind, discipline, and grace required for the use of such flexible and soft weapons to be of the most... wow, though. i'd assume, the more worried you are about getting hit, the more likely you are to get hit. the injuries such weapons can self-inflict by way of improper use can be crippling/fatal, which is why soft/foam-padded training variants/methods are usually an option for beginners.
in my state, however, such weapons aren't even legal for ownership or practice(even the soft practice ones) outside a dojo under a teacher's guidance and supervision making them impractical to learn safely in a life-timely manner unless you're a martial arts teacher yourself.
as far as beauty is concerned, i've actually found myself watching the short clips many times, but largely because i find myself as intrigued and distracted by the scenery as i am the forms. i don't even know where it is exactly, but feel like i'd be at still rest in simply lying down on the ground there and staring skyward.
