I don't know about him being an Aspie, but he is a complete w*ker. In my opinion.

He has a cult of personality, but he has a dignified air around him. I don't think that having AS means you cannot communicate socially. You just do it differently.

Yeah, The Edge seems to be very... guitar-centred. Very much into what he is doing rather than other stuff. I'm not sure about Bono. I have never actually considered that thought.

Bono and Asperger's? Really? I would rather have guessed ADHD, if anything at all. I mean, he doesn't have any problems with social relationships and such, does he? That idea with the ADHD I also just got because he said himself on a tv show here once that he were "like the hyperactive kid".

That just made me laugh. He IS hyperactive.

Off topic, but you're saying there about The Edge's style. It's not that very inventive. His sound is basically all about effects and easily replicated with fairly basic/cheap effect pedals or multi effects.

That's not a slight on him, or U2. If you watch the guitar docu-film It Might Get Loud about The Edge, Jack White and Jimmy Paige, he admits as much himself.

I did wonder whether the eye sensitivity indicated AS. A caring attitude fits too.
And a huge urge to "make a difference" (or is that just him & me?).
He has something anyway - a connection to a bigger force in the universe? He said the lyrics to "One" 'just fell out of the sky, a gift', and from my personal connection to it, it's like they came from the future to him.

Maybe Bono has AS, he does seem to show a personality typical of people with AS in some of the interviews i've seen him in. Sometimes he also has a way of looking at things, a way of explaining things that isn't very stereotypical. And as you say, maybe some of the lyrics in U2's songs hold some clues to it.

I also wonder if David Lynch has AS as well, he does have a somewhat peculiar (yet lovable and totally refreshing) personality compared to most people, and also has a strange way of explaining, of perceiving things. And he has a pretty wild imagination, which (correct me if i am wrong) tends to be pretty common in people with AS, ergo that they have a wild imagination, and tend to zoom out from reality sometimes.

He was a teenager when he wrote Stories for Boys. A lot of teenage males go through that.

I would say he is NOT AS.

Paul "Bono" Hewson of U2 is married, has four children, is socially adept, adores crowds, and enjoys working in an environment full of loud sounds - definitely NOT aspie-like behavior. As for his tinted glasses, Bono has glaucoma, so any aversion he has to bright light is attributable this condition.

His music is based on youthful rebelliousness and personal experiences - neither of these are exclusive to the aspie community.

If I had to wager, I'd place my money on Paul "Bono" Hewson NOT having AS.

I was listening to U2 yesterday (as always) and a couple of their songs really caught my attention and I thought could Bono have AS. I will quote a song of their lyrics from various songs.

Stories For Boys (From their first album Boy)
There's a place I go where I am far away
There's a TV show where I could go
Sometimes the feeling takes me
Sometimes I can't let go
Hello hello

and Vertigo is another example
Hello hello
I'm at a place called Vertigo
It's everything I wish I didn't know
Except you give me something
I can feel

Vertigo is about Bono's mind

What do you think??????

I think he's just constipated. 8)

I don't think he has AS. On a side note, he is the front man to one of the most overrated bands in the history of Rock. They have a horrible rhythm section, and their lead guitarist seems to know only one riff.

I don't see it at all. He's highly social, puts himself into social settings not least his vast audiences, but also builds relationships with high-ranking public figures. This guy is a professional schmoozer. I don't think he has any problems that suggest autism, or strengths that suggest it either.

He wears sunglasses because he has an eye condition he recently revealed.
