At one time I owned the civilian version of the HK MP5 pictured above, A Heckler & Koch 94
9 mm carbine. Now I would have to pay more than $5000.00 to get another one.

I absolutely hate guns, but I love them too.

I hate how they kill people and animals. I hate how they turn violence deadly. I hate how everyone seems to reach for them whenever a conflict arises instead of using diplomacy.

I love how they work. I love their intricacy and precision. I love how they look. I love the feel of holding them. I love how they've played incredibly important roles in history. I love how new ones constantly come out. I love how they are symbols of united people rising up against tyranny (such as the lovely Kalashnikovs in your avatar.)

So I guess you could say I love guns but I hate bullets :D . I'm also pretty knowledgable in the field of medieval armaments.

Here are some of my favorite guns:

I don't let my children play with toy guns...and water guns are called "water shooters". (they only can have the really fake neon ones.)

I..am in love with knives...swords...anything sharp.

I don't keep anything harmful in my house...but I could look at sharp weapons for hours.

I have to ask this, because I've rarely been able to get an answer.
What's your reason for not permitting your children to become acquainted with the proper use and handling rules associated with firearms?

I love guns!

1. They are - as stated by General George Washington, our "Liberty Teeth". Armed people are citizens. Disarmed we are but peasants.

2. Useful for self defense. And while most weapons require strength and reach, a gun makes me the equal of anyone. I fail to comprehend why womesn dislike guns. With sticks, the man can still whomp us!

3. Martial arts. Like any other martial art the use and perfection of use of a firearm requires developed skill. Practice is calming and focusing.

4. I am good at it. Okay with pistol, netter with shotgun, hell for good with rifle.

5. Tech/gadget value. Lots to learn about history and development, mechanics, use.

I love them. I do not hunt, I am vegetarian. But hostile tin cans fear my name.

I agree with most of this.

I love firearms. Too bad ammunition prices have been going through the roof.

I always carry a glock 23 (shoots 40 S&W) on me. To some people that sounds crazy, but it's the same reason I have car insurance, wear motorcycle helmets, etc. etc.

It's the best tool for the job.

I have been informed by WP member DoubleFeed that my Quote of George Washington is in error. I offer my most profound apologies.

I do not consider a well-armed populace to be a better defence against tyranny than a well informed populace, but it gets the job done just the same.

I, for one, plan on purchasing a little .38 caliber security package of my own in the future. We live in a crazy, unpredictable time and the best way to stay alive is by keeping a cool head and some cold steel.

I've got my concealed permit for the state I live in (arizona).

Although I won't lie, when I go to other states I still carry. Evil triumphs when good men do nothing, or something to that effect.

If you're concerned about the cost of ammunition, why not give handloading a try? I set myself up with a reloading bench and enough gear to keep my Taurus large-frame .357 Mag happily fed. Obviously, you want to have factory ammo for home or concealed carry defense purposes, but for target practice, hunting, or shooting competitions, handloading is the best way to go. Knowing you make the ammo with your own two hands gives you a sense of pride and accomplishment that's hard to achieve with other cost-effective hobbies.

It also enhances the respect a person has for the firearm they are handling. Knowing the time and effort required to make a bullet will be used up in a fraction of a second is a little disheartening, but it does give the end user further appreciation as to the simplicity of a bullet's design.

I reload, too. Mostly for rifles as of late but I need to get a good progressive press for cranking out masses of handgun ammo. When I'm in the pistol state of mind I go through more ammo than with a rifle.
