Not sure what the final 50/50 jackpot was but I don't think we won it as I haven't heard anything. Ah well. Someone just got pretty rich tonight, though!
I'm at peace about grandma. We stayed until someone from the funeral home was able to come get her (about 5 hours) I stayed in the room as he transferred her from her bed to his wheeled cart. My mom & her sister will grieve and carry on. It's my two uncles, especially the older one, who aren't going to deal with this well. Just imagine all of them from grandma on down all having different ASD traits, IQ's, and functioning levels. My older uncle has been so dependant on my grandmother for most of his life he's going to have a difficult time with all the changes. At least she's been in a care home for the last 2 years or so so he's gotten used to her not being at the house. It's still going to be difficult for him and none of his siblings get along with him well (for many good reasons) so I have a feeling I'll be over to that house helping keep the peace while things are packed up and sold/donated and the property sold etc. If that's a thing I've gotta do, then I guess it's a thing I've gotta do. I think a part of why it's easier for me to be in that position is that I've learned so much about AS that I can much more easily tolerate his behaviour because I understand it so well.
The more I am interacting with other people on the spectrum, and learning about ASD the more understanding I feel it is making me of other people in general. Not sure what the final 50/50 jackpot was but I don't think we won it as I haven't heard anything. Sorry about your Grandma, it sounds like she had a worthy innings before she went.
Makes sense. I guess because AS people can be some of the more challenging to understand and communicate with, it makes understanding and communicating with others all the easier.
Thx. Yeah, she did well. She was a hard working woman & did a lot. Worked all her life, really. Worked as a seamstress and other jobs, was still nannying at 65-70's.. took on one of her great grand children (~3yo) at age 79 and raised her.. was delivering meels on wheels in her 80's, still did some work and volunteer work with her Church into her early 90's. She had a lot of other accomplishments, too. As negative and pessimistic as she could be (almost always tbh) she sure did get a lot done in life.
