My elaboration on how I would fix the education system:
1. No more standardized tests!! !
2. Curricula geared toward the workforce or higher education, emphasizing skills and thinking that one would find in certain professions. Assignments, particularly in the STEM classes, would have themes based on a given profession. For example, all math problems in one assignment would involve the medical field, another would involve engineering, etc. All classes would provide and teach relevant study tactics.
3. We should rethink some of these zero-tolerance policies. There are zillions of things worse than an ID not on a lanyard.
4. Better alumni outreach, assisting them with employment, career planning, etc.
5. Better teacher funding. If you have the funds to build shiny new football stadiums (looking at you, Allen ISD), then you can definitely finance your educators' classroom needs.
