When I was 12 a girl in my seventh grade class thought I was "cute". Being the dumb socially inept aspie that I was - or maybe just because I was a dumb young kid- I didn't quite grasp that "cute" in that context does not mean "Cute like a baby or like a kitten" (therefore kind of a not flattering), but "mildly sexually attractive" (ergo flattering). So I latter regretted that I didn't at least savor the compliment instead of being annoyed by it (whether I asked her out or not).
That was the most memorable time the adjective was applied to me ( probably because before 12 'cute' always did mean 'like a baby' when it was applied to me).
A few years ago some (young, but older than 12) guy on WP was pissed off because a girl he knew called him "cute". And he was upset and asked us "did she just friendzone me?". He was too dorky to realize that it meant pretty much the opposite of that. Like me when I was 12 he thought "cute" always means "cute like a puppy/baby/kitten".

I have been called a lot of things in my lifetime. "Cute" and "Adorable" is not one of them.

Lol yes. Im the shortest and one of the youngest amongst my friends, and I still look like a freshman and act like a child so...yeah. Also, I get it a lot in like a teasing way when I try and do something and my friends just laugh at me and call me cute.

It's certainly better than being called "ugly."
I was considered "cute" rather than "handsome" throughout most of my life. I didn't mind it, really. Except that many girls, when I was in my 20s, wanted "rugged handsomeness" rather than "cuteness."
"Cuteness" frequently relegated me to what is now called "the Friendzone."
