No worries. 8) I chose to not take it personally or react respond to that part of your post. I realize we were discussing what is a rather touchy and frustrating topic for most people on the spectrum and accept that it’s going to trigger some people.

I'm surprised to hear that there are places in Canada that don't usually get much snow!

Heh, when we see news footage of one cm of snow wreaking havoc in more southern places, we usually laugh about it.

No idea why though, as the first snow usually tends to come as a surprise to people here too. Imagine, winter this year too! :P
And the truth is, sometimes heavy snow cause some chaos in cities here too. The trams can get stuck, subways and buses run late, and snow ploughs can't always get to where they are needed in time because they're stuck behind so many stuck motorists.

It dumps snow on the Coast Mountains in North Vancouver every Winter, so people can drive less than an hour to a few different ski/snowboard mountains. It also dumps snow most of the Winter out in the Fraser Valley about a 1.5h drive East. But there's only usually snow on the ground IN Vancouver for a matter of days or a couple weeks/winter, and usually not much. There are palm trees on the beach at English Bay in the West End of Vancouver.. we have the most moderate climate of all of Canada - we don't get the extreme highs and lows of the rest of the country.

It's amazing how resourceful people are.

Saying this, the snow doesn't appear all that deep. Sort of like a pretty average snowfall when we get snow in NYC.

But people, even in NYC, are becoming "snowflakes" about it. They closed the college where I work because of a little snow and sleet. We're probably not even getting 10 cm of snow. And freezing rain is forecast to be negligible. And it's going to change to rain later.

I'm losing money because of this routine snow-and-sleet sort of day.

It’s been snowing lightly since last night. Only got stuck for a couple mins on my drive to work. Couple errands to run after. Nearly 80% of workers stayed home yesterday and today. I didn’t because my car insurance is due in 3 weeks and even with the maximum 43% discount on basic coverage, it’s $2045.(vs $3700 full price)
