Those were novelty/comedy songs, though; I don't think it's fair to count songs which are intentionally dumb or goofy. I listened to a lot of Dr. Demento growing up so I heard a lot of those types of songs, and really, my standard for "bad" is merely comedy songs which aren't funny...but even then, humor is subjective.

I love a lot of stupid songs, but I'd have to say "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" is the one which I cannot stand whatsoever. I know a lot of people love it, it's a holiday staple, but it annoys me to no end.

The "Bad Boys" theme from the show COPS. Apparently it was a hit in some countries. I can't stand the show either.

The Bob Rivers band did a variation called "Osama Got Run Over by a Reindeer". I thought it was a little less annoying than the original. At least until the Navy Seals rendered that variation obsolete. :D

"Ah, you touched my talala, my dingdingdong…."
I don't know what it's called.
I don't want to know what it's called.
I want to forget.

Most advertising jingles. One, "Check Into Cash" was particularly annoying. I also hated the Chia Pet ad.

All rap music
All shag/beach music "Under the Board-walk, down by the Seeeeaaaaeaeaeae..."BS
Country music from Hank Williams to the present.
People who sing like they're trying to get spit all over the mike
Music with boosted bass
Electric guitars
Rock & roll
"Coon Songs"--really racist music from the 1890s up through the 1910s. It's like victorian rap music for white people.

Basically I don't like insipid drivel or loud crazy stuff associated with midlife crisis vinyl-siding NT culture. Gives me problems

Music I like:

Early 20th c. popular
light classical
military marches & band pieces, waltzes included
Foxtrots, one-steps, ragtime
Jazz and blues up through the swing era
Comic songs
1910s sentimental songs (So sue me!)
Silent film scores for orchestra
Modern movie scores a la John Williams
Waltzes from about 1915 to 1920
Gilbert & Sullivan operettas
Negro spirituals
Old marching songs
Gregorian chant
Renaissance polyphonic choir
Pipe organ music (church style or theater)
Whatever else.

I like music but am a bit out of touch with new music. It stresses me out. Old upbeat music winds me up in a good way but the other stuff just makes me feel used-up.

As an adult there are two (people in Scotland would joke opposing but still) songs/types of songs I like and really, really don't want to. Simply the Best and Michael Jackson songs... You'd think the Michael Jackson wasn't a public problem but they were playing some at the fete I went to today... It's just the beat of dance songs gets to me.

When I was a kid, certain songs really freaked me out. The last song to do that to me was 'Drinking in LA'. Other songs which did it were 'I'm not in love' and 'Toy Soldiers'. I used to listen to the radio going to sleep and those songs scared me.

Also there is one song which is my very most hated song because it was used in an abusive way towards me. But nobody on here will have heard of it. It's for a gangster, like pro murderer... Most people don't mean it that way these days but he did...

Songs by people who "belt out" a song, as if volume is synonymous with quality

Raspy voiced singers
