Everything I did seemed normal to me because it was natural. I don't know what normal is since my mind refuses to accept the outsider version of normalcy as that.

To look at it from the outsider's perspective, I can with some things especially if there are links to things I read about or experienced or saw happen.

I sometimes try hard to soak their version of normal with reflection, research and discussions - but I forget it afterwards.

It's not natural so their stuff is abnormal to me. It seems atrocious, a lot of it.

My L used to hate when I said I don't know. He said things like 'I dont understand why don't you know anything??' And just have flames shooting out of him (seemed like).

I don't know anyone else who got mad at that except for my mom.

This isn't entirely applicable, but I got very upset when I went to a little girl's house directly across from my house. Her bedroom window faced the opposite direction of what mine did. I got very upset and told her that her house was "wrong", and stormed out. It was very unsettling to see the world from an opposite perspective through her window, because I assumed that all houses had to face the way mine did.

Likewise, another girl had blue carpet and blue couches in her house. I thought that was "wrong" ... because my father hated blue and there was nothing blue in my own house. I didn't want to play with the girl because the blue wasn't normal in my opinion. I thought everyone's house had to be just like mine, and I had a hard time appreciating little differences like that.

Honestly, I must've been 17 or so before I realized that not all adults keep their houses clean and in order. I mean, I knew there were alcoholics and such who often had a messy house, but I thought that all adults who had their life in order kept their places at least somewhat in order, meaning no clothes all over the place and such. I did think that was normal for a teenager's room thanks to my siblings, but a whole house in the spaces that the parents ruled? No way. Except then I went to a certain friend's house and that place was like that. 8O And yes, it was a middle class family of four with both parents working and the kids doing well in school, so it felt weird... so far that's the only such a place I've seen, but it was an eye opener.

You really don't want to see my house, then. To say that my parents aren't very good housekeepers is putting it nicely. In fact, part of the reason I want to move out is because I want to get away from all the clutter and mess, have somewhere where I start from scratch instead of having to play catch-up and work against three messy people who don't seem to mind it.
