I googled it, and that does seem to be the difference.

Jam is mashed up fruit flesh, and jelly is just made from the juice.

Then again, I do occasionally like diluting jam with water, so it kind of makes a drink with bits of fruit pulp in it, which I like.

I LOVE the taste and texture of rose petal jam.

So THAT is what "cilantro" is!

When I was a kid mom always had a bottle of coriander in her spice rack.

But since around the start of the 21st Century they have this new thing called "cilantro". Didn't realize that those two spices are the same thing. :D

Cilantro refers to the leaves of the plant while coriander refers to the seeds.
Each has a smell/flavor that is very different from the other.

In the US to "bash" something is to "attack it", or "complain about it". Like blaming everything on the media is "media bashing". Or calling the song "I Will Survive" "a man bashing song". So you wouldn't call "Bible thumpers" "bible bashers". That would be confusing here.

That's the thing, it has the same meaning here too. Except for Bible basher, who we'd usually refer to as someone who promotes the Bible and/or is overly religious about Christianity based on the Bible.

When I looked it up, I found that too in the US. In the UK we refer to the leaves as coriander too.

the leaves we call 'fresh coriander' to distinguish them from the seeds

how about 'pavement' and 'sidewalk'? In the US if you walk on the pavement you get run over (or maybe you get 'run down' over there, I dunno... :D )

Yeah, I should have pointed out that I'm in the US.
Somewhat related:
In the US 'garden' is used to describe a plot dedicated to growing food or ornamentals whereas I get the impression that in the UK it refers to what Americans would call 'a backyard'.

Yep.

Mostly we call it a restaurant or if small, a cafe. Some pronounce that as caff-ay (the second bit as in the sound of the letter A) others just pronounce it as caff, which is wrong.
