Where my dad worked in the suburbs of London he would often go out work with his work friends for an Indian meal. He told me at the restaurants some of his work friends who were Indian themselves would be very rude to the waiters.

Why? I don’t know maybe it’s a hierarchy thing with Indian people or something?

^ I might be wrong, but I think that in some cultures, waiters are automatically below the customers in social hierarchy, so in those cultures it's socially acceptable to be rude to the waiters.

When i order chinese theyre nice , i wouldnt say theyre smiling but not impolite either

You are right as caste is big even when they have moved out of India (i had friends of which 3 who were not my friends but my friends friends but hung out with us...were indian ...n they wd regularly talk about irrelevant things like caste and speak badly of poor people etc(
and it's a sign the person (who is being mean to a lesser paid person) comes from a bad family . my dad taught us that if you see ppl being like that compensate by being extra nice.
