Why do more men smoke pot than women?

Here it’s just as many women , possibly more than men.There are always more women at the dispensary.Its funny to see an eighty year old granny talking about dabbing and ordering a oz of Cluster Bomb to smoke.

Plenty of women at the beach smoke it, too. Almost everyone there does. But that's what the culture is there. Overall there are probably more males smoking pot, and Also more males drinking alcohol and doing other drugs. Fnord's probably correct: Males just take more risks. (Risk, reward, though.. )

It's not literally nothing, it's pot, obviously.. but what are they supposed to talk about it like? Like it's meth or crack? Cannabis is healthier, safer, less dangerous & non-lethal than almost all other recreational drugs. It's far better in every category measurable than alcohol or nicotine - especially alcohol for the widespread societal problems it causes due to it's very widespread use. If you think thc is somehow a dangerous taboo drug to be lumped in with meth/crack/heroin but cigarettes & alcohol are no big deal (due to cultural acceptance) then you have a lot of learning to do. IMO.

I've never been obsessed with thinness. I've never seen any logic in being obsessed with anything that would make me seem more vulnerable. I'm also trans and I identify and express myself as male just so nobody's confused when they read my posts.

Perhaps not wanting to be seen as a lazy stoner stereotype, I guess I could see some women caring more about that. But truth is lots of different people from different walks of life smoke cannabis for varying reasons even some people you wouldn't think do. Then there are people who use cannabis but only edibles or tincture but don't smoke it ever.

I find it takes the edge of things and it's better than alcohol(I do drink but cannabis is by far a safer drug). If I had to give up pot or alcohol forever I'd give up the alcohol and stick with the green.

Oh, I don't care about people smoking pot. I've smoked it before and enjoy using it, so I'd have to be stupid to care about other people using it. lol

I just thought it was bizarre that kids were talking about that at school and often in front of teachers, hence why I mentioned that they talked about having vapes at school.

Probably depends on the local culture & history of cannabis in that region.

Those conversations would be commonplace here, as they have been for decades/2 generations, on the West Coast where all of Canada's hippies live and BC has been in the marijuana industry for just as long even though it's only recently been legalized. But other parts of Canada, the culture is Very Different and people might have your type of thoughts about teenagers discussing cannabis use - especially in politically conservative Alberta where there are a LOT more Christian schools & almost the entire economy has revolved around high paying oil & gas jobs that people have to pass drug tests for and thus can't smoke pot - even when it's legal. (But man oh man do they do cocaine - in part because they can afford it, and in part because it's out of your body in a few days so they know they can pass a piss test when they return to work.)

Discussions about teenagers smoking weed were pretty common when I was in high school 21 years ago. Maybe not as open as they are Now, and especially with the advent of disposable pocket vapes etc, but still, it wasn't like it was some super taboo thing where no teenager should allow a responsible adult in a teacher job ever hear them mention the devil's lettuce.

Definitely highly regional - even within Canada, never mind much more prohibition intense USA.

Also, there are so many different types of cannabis that I am sure some may smell like horse manure while some can smell like lavender or roses actually. But it is not for everyone. Poo or flowers.

Even older ppl I know that rarely smoke pot love the smell of it because they used to smoke it and it's a nostalgia thing.

Personally, I almost always find it a pleasant smell - or at least non-offensive, because I know what it is and smoke it myself. It's rare that it's like "Whoa, that's just too pungent," like almost never.. if it's a super strong smell it just makes me smile a little like "Heh, someone's a total stoner and doesn't realize just how strongly they smell like pot rn.."

I don't mind the smell of pot, but my parents have smoked it since before I was born so I've had plenty of time to get used to it. I don't even notice the smell of it half the time. lol

I can see why some people don't like it though.

I wonder if part of the reason is financial?

Women tend to be more financially conservative than men. They also, still, tend to have lower incomes for the same work - which means less disposable income to blow on stuff like a bag of weed.

Dont know if women really do smoke pot less than men. But if they do then its mainly because boys are more into dangerous, risk taking, and rebellious behavior than girls. Skateboarding, playing chicken with cars, and like that. With diet factor also being important- the rare dangerous thing women are more into than men is smoking tobacco - that because it suppresses appetite -while pot stimulates your appetite.

Interestingly men are more into drunk driving, and playing chicken. But women are more into texting while driving.

I remember being told by someone (who is not me)
that the reason why most woman don't smoke pot
is because they are mad already and don't need the pot to make them go mad....lol

i understand that it is offensive to woman and pot smokers etc.. but its not a serious comment,
it was just a jest... i know how strong some people feel about both those subjects though...
so i am playing with fire.... don't mean it.... was just a joke...)...

And some people who smoke pot say it keeps them from going mad, maybe there is some truth in that since medical marijuana is becoming open to some mental disorders mostly PTSD I think but I wonder if it has potential for schizophrenia since anyone I've talked to with that also self medicates with it.

My aunt told me it keeps the voices quiet and lets her get on about her life whereas taking prescribed pills for it is impairing and not as effective(paraphrasiing it was a while back we had that conversation) and I know some anti-psychotic meds can have some potentially dangerous side effects also they feel gross I know because I got prescribed one for anxiety I don't know what that doctor was thinking.

That sounds like something my hillbilly relatives in minnesota would say, except most of the women around there also smoke pot. If anyone thinks I am being too insulting with the hillbilly thing, well if you went to visit you'd see what I mean.
