American, yes. But not any one of these.

Too fast for the 3.9 second bracket - the Model S manages 0 - 100 km/h in 2.6 secs in "ludicrous mode" and 3.3 secs otherwise.

Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive Long Range w/ aftermarket +50hp tuning box modification from https://ingenext.ca/ which my high school best friend (Mark Malone - world famous VW Diesel ecu tuner http://www.malonetuning.com ) just got Metro Vancouver exclusive distribution rights to sell. 8) Retails for $1100 and has the same performance upgrade + more features as the $2700 Tesla mod. Vancouver is a good place to sell that go-fast goodie, because we have the most Tesla’s on the road in all of Canada.

The car in question is a brand new pretty red one w/ white interior that he just picked up a week or so ago to add to his stable. Easy to justify the purchase w/ the $8k gov’t rebate combined with 100% tax write off for businesses purchasing EV’s right now.

Suuuuuper fun to drive! Pretty much like hooking up with someone out of your league, IMO. 12/10 8) And also very interesting Not to drive with autopilot self driving mode on. Plus it makes fart noises & more cowbell etc

Yep. But like anywhere there could be cops anywhere any time.

I’ve still been passenger in a car on a local highway here once doing 280 kmh, though.. sooo, yeah, it’s possible. Not legal or recommend, but possible. :D

it has been my experience that even rock-hard suspended cars ride like glass at high enough speeds.

I’m not sure what you mean by “ride like glass,” - smooth as glass?

I’d think that rock-hard suspended cars would ride super smooth at very high speeds.

Soft riding cars are comfortable highway cruisers, but if you tried to get them up to Very high speeds I think they’d bounce around & lift up whenever there’s a little dip.

Besides a lower centre of gravity and aerodynamics, I think that’s part of the reason some high end cars have suspension that stiffens & lowers at high speeds. Well, all the physics combined I guess.

I have rarely ever been at high speeds because of "Why?" The speed limit is designed to keep us relitively safe. On rare occasions I have gone faster. I once on a car limited to 155mph which had a V6 engine (Audi 80 2.6E) that revved like crazy... I wanted to know at what speed the rev limiter came in in third gear (5 speed manual) and I found an uphill open stretch of road where there was nothing there and at 4am or before on the way to work I was doing the legal speed limit at the corner to turn onto the hill and I dropped it down to 3rd, and put my foot down... The car quickly accelerated and hit 100 before I took it back down to 60mph befor reching the small group of houses which were about a third of a mile distance from the corner. The gradient was around a 1 in 5 and 1 in 6 mix. (Variations). The reason I did it going uphill was for safety because though the car could stop at 100 down to zero quicker then most cars could stop at 60, if anything jumped out from the hedge I had a far better chance to stop then if I was going on the flat.
I hit 100 for a brief moment and the rev limiter still had not kicked in! I knew it was 35 in 1st and about 68 to 69mph in 2nd. Never did find out with the other gears on that car.
Only on two other occasions I went briefly at that sort of speed. The first time was quite by accident as I disjot realize how quickly the car I was in could accelerate, and that was in a Volvo 360 GLT. I was on the motorway where there is a max legal speed limit of 70mph and I was doing around 65 to 70mph and I was approaching a queue of traffic on the inside lane, so I checked in the mirror and in the distance was one car which was a triple valve Proton which were new in those days (We are talking about the 1990's). I indicated, and started to overtake the queue and looked in my mirror and the Proton was gaining on me fast, so I put my foot right down and I had in my mind due to the speed he was coming from behind to touch around 80 to 85mph and get to the front of the queue to let him past as he was belting it.
So after putting my foot down and feeling and hearing my car respond I passed another few cars and looked in my mirror again and there was a big gap. Had he slammed on the brakes? What was going on? I went to look at my speed but the steering wheel was partly blocking it but I could see the rev counter needle was zooming right up fast... I mean... As quick as I could move my finger from left to right fast was how I saw the rev counter go up. I leaned forwards and nearly jumped out of my skin. The car was doing somewhere around 115mph and rapidly climbing! I had such a shock. It all happened soo fast. Whoever was going flat out in the Proton behind must have not believed his eyes!
That was when I realized how quick that Volvo was. They only had 120mph on the clock but I was told they were clocked at over 140mph at times. (They used the same speedometer as they did on the base model Volvo 340's that had Renault engines of 1400cc ad 1700cc sizes. The 360's had 2000cc engines in either carbaretta form (The GL) or fuel injected form (The GLE and GLT), and I am sure they were much quicker ad more powerful then the official figures suggest because the acceleration and top speed on those cars was far better then the official write-ups suggest. Also they were far more economical to run as well. But I do know with those engines that it takes 75,000 miles to run them in and their engines remain tight until close to 100,000 miles before they bed in and the cars performance hits a peak between 120,000 miles and up, It was the same for a Volvo 740GLT I used to have which at 175,000 miles it was the quickest accelerating car by far that I have owned and I have owned many quick cars like the Volvo T5 which was quick but nothing like the 740GLT once it had reached high milage and had run itself in.
The only other car that I hit high speed was when I was in the 1965 Volvo Amazon where I had a litrle done up Vauxhall Nova overtake me at high speeds and I was intregued to find out how fast his little car was going so I put my foot down and at 110 to 120mph in the old Volvo (It had far kore on the acdelerator pedal left but those old Volvo engines could rev themselves to bits and more! So knowing at that speed I was slowly catching him up I was happy and brought the old Volvo back down to normal speeds. It was only for about half a mile I did it. I was told the overdrive fuel injected Amazons could touch 140 on a good day and I can believe it!

That’s fast for a volvo! Especially one in the 1990’s.

Hmm, my motorcycle is said to have a top speed of 211 kmh.. but so far I’ve only hit 140 kmh. Not quite sure how fast I ever wanna go on one But would be neat to at least hit 100 mph once just to say I did. Definitely a different feeling with no cage & no seatbelt.

The Tesla took off faster than my bike - which is 0-100 kmh in 4.6 seconds. My brothers is 0-97 kmh in 3.7 seconds - and even that is not considered fast for a motorcycle. But still, a full size car that moves like a motorcycle is pretty damned quick! Like throws you back in the seat quick. 8)

in my days working in the operating room, i saw enough busted up cyclists [including meself  ] to deter me from ever trying a motorcycle at any speed.

If you go fast enough there won’t be any operating room trip.. :p

My friend rode 292 kmh. Maybe faster but that’s what he saw on the Speedo.

Another friend rode passenger at over 300 kmh.

This is my new keychain:

:D

I’m a bit more on the cautious side vs let ‘er rip, but it’s still good advice. 8)

1980's you mean. :) Though they did not accelerate anywhere near the Tesla and other cars like that.

~No production cars move like Tesla’s & all the new EV’s can be made to move.

Imagine the Model S performance version?? 2.5 seconds!! CRAAZY FAST!! 8O

Even the top of the line Cybertruck is going to be RIDICULOUS at 2.9 seconds. My friend put a deposit on one.. full size truck faster than a Lambo! Expensive for a truck ($110k out the door here) but cheap for a Lambo killer!
