people asking for money

... You should see giving out donations of rice in Pakistan, there was about 3 thousand people barging through our grounds gates they even broke the gates off the hinges they were that desperate for food and I'm talking massive 6 ft metal gates. It's an incredibly humbling experience and really makes you value the situation you're in because at least it's not that. They were like fighting each other over the food and the kids were fighting like the adults. Sad times we live in.
We had similar experiences in the Philippines after the last major eruption of the Taal volcano. Our medical team was nearly overwhelmed with all the people needing diagnoses and treatments. Then we came back to the 'States just as the coronavirus was hitting everyone. People here complain about having to wear masks; but if they could see a six-year old kid with volcanic ash still in her hair coughing up blood and begging someone to make it better, they might be more inclined to wear that freaking mask!Totally agree, silly first world problems. Most of the people in first world countries just simply do not understand how incredibly lucky they have it. Once you've opened your eyes it makes you incredibly grateful to what you do actually have.
I have seen some questionable injuries like this too, it absolutely shocks you because you're like this is the real world and these poor people are living it every day waking up to a nightmare, it's cruel and about pure survival.
I used to crave stuff like new Nike clothes all the time, wouldn't wear anything without a sports brand, after having these experiences I literally do not care about buying myself anything nice. I've stopped wasting food as well, if I'm not sure I'm gonna eat it I'd rather go without it. It totally changes your perspective on life. If more people experienced this I think there would be a lot more giving and donating in the world.

I was walking with my mum once and a man asked her for money to buy a coffee. My mum pointed to a building and said see that building over there well they'll give you a job and then you can buy your own coffee. He told my mum to f of. She's never given anyone money like that.
That is very rude of him. My girlfriend used to give money to beggars sometimes depending on if she had extra money at the time. Some were very appreciative of a small amount & others were rude & pressured her for more money. One time the bum kept pressuring her for more after she gave him a $5 so I got in his face & told him to leave her alone & he walked off. That incident was at the Greyhound bus station in New York city. I used to travel back & forth by Greyhound to see my parents 2wice a year. A bit of bums hang out at that station asking people for money. The cops & employees try to keep them out but they just come back or more take their place. When my girlfriend told her dad that story, he told her a story about how a bum asked him for money as a ruse to see how much was in his wallet before mugging him
