I think it was Lilly Allen I was thinking of. A current singer, and not actually a band, but a vocalist.
But there have been a fair number of Brit rock and pop artists who sing in their own dialect. Including the venerable Ian Drury.
@ Veg. Definitely should be listed. I guess he set the trend for the rest to follow. In both life and in death.
I used to get Ian Drury confused with the lesser known John Baldry- so- this thread reminded of this recording by the later- a sad tale that involves... both British dialect, and the blues roots of rocknroll.

It is sad she died but her tallents were not wasted. We got to hear her tallents... We got to hear them. How many really tallented people do we not get to hear or see???
