Ok! Would you like a random reading orwould you like me to try and consult the cards onna specific issue? :)

I think the later is more effective.

I'm going with tarot this time. You I sense are a King of Swords. An intellectual and harsh man, a dark man most likely with a dark complexion. One who cuts through BS, does not suffer fools well, and is not to be trifled with.

Your three cards are Strength, Death, and The Hanged Man.

In the past you felt invincible and had the courage to face any challenges in life. But that has now come to an end. You may be feeling depression because life has not turned out the way you had planned. You feel trapped and confined as if you are being punished by the world. But you may come to learn something from this suffering that you are experiencing.

I can imagine you are feeling down about the state of the world between the pandemic and economy plus all this other craziness. Maybe it has cut into your job or schooling somehow? Maybe you know people who died from Covid? And you feel stuck worrying and stressing about your own future?

@ King0fSpades: You have a need for other people to like and admire you, and yet you tend to be critical of yourself.  While you have some personality weaknesses you are generally able to compensate for them.  You have considerable unused capacity that you have not turned to your advantage.  Disciplined and self-controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside.  At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing.  You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations.  You also pride yourself as an independent thinker; and do not accept others' statements without satisfactory proof.  But you have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others.  At times you are extroverted, affable, and sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, and reserved.  Some of your aspirations tend to be rather unrealistic.

The letter 'M' features prominently in your life, as does the color blue.  You have special relationships with both fire and water, while air and earth are simply parts of your ordinary existence.

Wow, that's surprisingly very accurate! I know you dont really believe in this stuff Fnord but you are pretty good at it. :D

One of my friends who is also into numerology explained to me that the number 4 is also prominent in my life. My birth cards in tarot are The Emperor (Number 4) and Death (Number 13). :king: :skull:

It is called the  Forer Effect  and you fell for it.  The last two sentences (I have found) also apply to about 90% of the people seeking insight ... and there is a seeker born every minute.

Hmm.... ok. Well, I still like playing around with tarot. Even if there is no real mystical power behind it, I think the history of the cards as well as the different interpretations of the artwork itself is fascinating.

I find it fascinating how the decks based on the Rider Waite Smith Deck have images on each card based on occult symbolism from ancient times. The Tetramorph in The World and The Wheel of Fortune cards (Man, Lion, Ox, and Eagle). The Ouroboros on The Magician's belt. The Star of Ishtar over the nude goddess in The Star card. The Crown of The Triple Moon Goddess (Maiden, Mother, and Crone) sitting on the head of The High Priestess (Maybe a reference to Persephone, Demeter, and Hecate?). The Star of David on the lantern of The Hermit. Etc

Even if one does not really believe in this it's still fun to read into, at least in my opinion. :study:

It is also possible to make a living at it (enough to pay rent, keep the utilities running, and buy groceries).  I got out of the business when I realized how dependent people could get on my ability to construct a story from randomly-selected cards.

Did you get that?  It was not the cards themselves, but my ability to tell a convincing story that got them hooked.

The key word in performing a reading of tarot cards is "performing" -- not "reading", not "tarot", and not "cards".

"Performance".

I prefer honest work; but it is nice to know that if I ever need cash, I can charge $20 per reading and earn enough in a week to put food on the table.

I might consider that when if the economy gets so bad that I lose my SSI and have no choice but to find ways to earn money or food to survive like people during The Great Depression did. Besides I have no job skills since I've been on SSI my entire life.

There must be at least one coffee shop or tea house is Portland that would allow occasional card-reading.
