Yes, we evolved.

What I don't get is why only humans have evolved into an advanced society yet cats have been around for like 10,000 years and are still cats today. Or all the other animals that have been around thousands of years.

How come the dinosaurs didn't evolve into something else for all the millions of years they ruled the Earth?

Actually scientists think some dinosaurs did evolve like the T rex became lizards today.

No scientist today thinks that.

However certain small relatives of T-rex do live on today. Thats what birds are. Carnivorous dinosaurs highly specialized for minaturization, and later also...for flight.

Yes, the word "dinosaur" is a misnomer. It means "big lizard", but that is not what dinosaurs were like. And most dinosaurs were human sized or smaller. The huge dinosaurs were the exceptions. People are just fascinated with those enormous dinosaurs.

The devices keep getting smarter but the humans keep getting dumber. I think humans are devolving. Soon there will be genius phones that can write a 500 page book better than the best human authors in only 30 seconds, but humans will be too busy dragging their knuckles on the ground to read it. In fact, adult humans won't be able to read or write anything longer than two or three letters.
The partial Duckman quote I put in my post sig yesterday before reading this thread is kinda partly related to this. The smarter technology gets, the more complicated & cumbersome things become for me. Most people younger than me & lots 10 plus years older than me can keep up with the rapidly changing technology much better than me & a lot of them seem to be morons who do not have a lick of common sense nor the ability to function without their tech. If that is evolution, I am a caveman who should be extinct.

The band NOFX hit the nail on the head with their song The Idiots Are Taking Over

& so did the band Bad Religion with their song 21st Century Digital Boy which was actually done in 1990

Actually, it's even less closely related to dinosaurs than lizards are.

Tuataras, lizards and birds form a clade.

Lizards and archosaurs are clustered together as a smaller clade with snakes and lizards on one side and archosaurs (birds, dinos, pterosaurs and crocs) on the other.

Archosaurs break down with crocodyliforms on one branch and Avemetatarsalia (dinos and pterosaurs) on the other.
