Perhaps it's a matter of if you've got nothing nice to say don't say anything at all. May Liz be the last of them.

Why do you regret starting threads?

Because people just criticise the topic and make me feel bad about myself, and starting new threads is impulsive too, so I need to limit myself.

The Royal family is good for UK's tourism industry. The huge crowd of visitors who showed up for this event is evidence of that. The whole royalty shebang has gobs of aesthetic appeal to it for tourists. Side note: The little kid next to the queen on the balcony was hilarious.

Aww, we're a cynical bunch here. You're too good for us really. You would get on really well with a friend of mine, but you live at opposite sides of the country and will probably never meet.

She gets frustrated that I'm not as into The Royals or certain bands or actors like she is. I like to let her tell me everything she likes about them all the same. She would prefer to shoot the breeze and I prefer to analyse things.

I think there aren't that many Brits on here these days.

I love our queen and like the royal family but I am not into these celebrations. This is not to say I do not want our queen to not like them. Is just me not wanting to be in masses of crowds. I am one who wants to meet people one to one without crowds. I like quiet times... I realize this may not be possible with the ones who are so well known that one will not likely ever meet them without being in a crowd. But that is just me. I do not do crowds. I am not a party goer, but this does not mean I don't like or respect the people.

So while I may not be part of the celebrations, I will privately say "Well done" to our queen and say "Thank you for being who you are".

I know it's being "celebrated" here in Canada but I don't care about it, either. The world is such a toxic wasteland that when a "happy" occasion does happen (and somehow doesn't get interrupted by an act of mass murder) it just feels empty.

I have no real interest in the royal family but I have noticed that the UK loves its tabloid sleaze and scandal just as much as the Americans do.

As a Brit I can't understand all the fuss and TV coverage it is getting, but then, like so many on this site I'm indifferent to the Royal Family; neither for nor against them.

I agree that happy should be in quotes. There's nothing to celebrate about monarchy.

I feel where you live is one small contributing factor eg, villages may celebrate because the authority will allow street parties and road closures. I am anti royalist and as such don’t celebrate the jubilee and have noticed any Royal celebration receives less public attention over the years. IMO there is no place for the monarchy and the Crown should end with Elizabeth. Scotland has approx a 50/50 Unionist/Independent following so the country is divided and Sinn Fein were recently voted in as majority party by N. Ireland. There is a cost of living crisis and an astronomical increase in energy prices so some of us don’t really want to know that the monarchy wasted millions on Rod Stewart singing Sweet Caroline, designer outfits or protection for Harry and Meghan who no longer live here.

Okay, that's the Platinum Jubilee, when is the Plutonium Jubilee?

Do the English even give a s**t about the royals? I just see everyone online talk about how much they despise them.

I honestly wouldn't care about a bunch of rich, inbred monarchs with no current actual political power if the U.S. had people like that, and I sure don't care about another countries rich, inbred monarchs who have no political power, either.
The royals seem to be more like celebrities than politicians, at least compared to American celebs & American politicians. People on WP tend to be less obsessed & less concerned about celebs than typical NTs are, unless we have a crush on one(that's me)

No, I do not give a s**t about the royals....they reinforce the class system

I remember a few years ago we celebrated an event that had something to do with the number 77. I kept seeing 77s everywhere, can someone tell me what this was in aid of?

And no, it wasn't a birthday party of anyone I know or an anniversary. But the number 77 rings a bell and I'm getting frustrated because I can't remember what it was, but I'm certain it was something to do with the royals.

Despite how much she's enjoying all the attention, Elizabeth is dying to see Charles crowned king.
