Apparently there's an epidemic of RSV that's sending literally thousands of children to the hospital in Canada now. How many new pandemics will there be by 2030?

I don't want to be around children, but I don't really want them suffering or dying, either. I know how hard it must have been for my own parents whenever I was suffering as a kid. Not that I ever had any really serious illnesses back then, but I was in and out of the hospital a lot because I was always getting ear infections. And one time my brother got really sick with what I think was whooping cough. When I once told the anti-vax geniuses on Facebook about it they told me he could have been easily cured with vitamins. Sure.

The fact that I'm getting older and I don't wish to "act my age." I'll be putting Schultz on my head and marching through the forest an hour after my mum drops me off at my apartment building, tomorrow. That way, I won't be buying scratch tickets.

Coming home from a very long day in hospital with my mum's operation, and crushing my nearly $1000 tinted eyeglasses under the automatic garage door when it shut.

I couldn't have hit the target better if I'd tried.

So much for vision -- or my bank account.

This was the replacement pair for the ones I lost mysteriously a year ago.

Damn, those are expensive.

And here I was, thinking that my two-for-one (no more than $150 each) price club glasses were expensive.
One pair are prescription sunglasses and the other one is transition eyeglasses with anti-blue and anti-glare coatings.

I have vision damage from my strokes.
That's the going rate here for most glasses anyway.
Plus $150 for the eye exam.
They're booking for next August at my optometrist.

If it's just the frame broken you can try finding that frame online or have an eyeglass store order it for you, then they (or you) can just pop in the old lenses, no need for an optometrist.

When I just started wearing glasses in high school we were wise to get insurance for my glasses. Back then I didn't wear them all the time and they kept slipping out of my shirt pocket. One time they fell out on our driveway and were driven over by a car. The insurance covered the repair.

Think about insuring your $1000 glasses, since it's the 2nd time in a span of a year.

With the eye exam and taxes. ^

In 30 years of wearing glasses I never lost any until last year, or broke any until tonight.
I asked about insurance last year.
It's not available from the vendor (or any optometrist).
My house insurance would be a $2K deductible.

I actually pay about $4K for glasses every two years.
This was one of four pair that I need for different purposes.
As luck would have it, they're the ones I wear all day long and for computer reading.

I won't have to wait until August for a repair, but still.

^ It is, in fact, mostly fruit and veg!

Anxious about bumping into people in my building.

Went to see surgeon today for post op follow up.
They're worried about a few things.
Not least of which is the cough I've developed.
So they're sending me for a CT scan of my lungs.
So yeah, I'm anxious about that.

Missing the bus I usually take to get to my school.

I do so in order to avoid dumb adolescents who have too much parental leniency on them.

I decided to take another bus and got to my school without any problems.

Covid cases rising again and we'll probably have 10 new variants by 2023.

North Korea and their nukes.

I sneezed three times in a row, earlier. Should I write my will? I'm almost 49, is it weird that I haven't written it?

I wrote my first Will when I was 13. :P

Anxious:
How we're going to deal with my brother's illness.
Bringing my mum home from hospital today.
How to get MD to do her stupid paperwork.
Why is my dog breathing like he has Covid?
Will they be able to fix my glasses??
