I can't seem to focus. My concentration is appalling. I did start the other night on autobiography, but haven't managed to write more since.

So maybe your dream job isn't so dreamy.

I think instead of thinking in terms of wages and intrinsic and extrinsic benefits, we should be thinking in terms of what we'd jump out of bed in the morning to do free anyway. I'm not talking about things like doing drugs, that would get boring. I'm talking about things like helping... helping people, helping animals, helping children, planting trees, helping other aspies...

Of course it's important to take care of yourself first. That's being selfish in order to be selfless.

Aren't you being a little idealistic? And who says everyone would jump out of bed every mornng to help people, animals etc? That is not a job as such. That is something one would do anyway where they could. And who is thinking in terms of wages? I did not see anyone mention wages or benefits anywhere? I sure didn't lol. If I cared about all of that, I would be working right now.

I'd be a buddhist monk. I'm already a (self-professed) buddhist, so that helps. But I'm not likely ever to become a monk. Still, it would be my dream "job".

I meant, what would you do simply for the joy of doing, as opposed to any other intrinsic or extrinsic rewards which are so commonly on the minds of so many people here? Yes I'm idealistic, it's an idealistic question. I'm also realistic. I think I have the two best jobs in the world! :D

Forget about bills and money, if you could have any job you wanted what would it be? I'm sure most would rather not work if they didn't have to, but I'd like to hear what kind of job meets your interests and criteria. Also an explanation of your interests in that job would be nice too.

Thank you Mr. Mark for helping, what would you like to do if all the careers in the world were your's to pick from and you had no worries?

Well, if I had no worries...

Feeding people is of fundamental importance, but if we reduce mortality due to starvation without reducing birth rates then we have a new problem.

Some homeless people refuse shelter, even on nights so cold they might lose their life. They need more clothing and blankets. Acceptable shelter would be better.

Medicine should be free, but with no profit motivation to promote research...

I guess it's best to help locally. Help your neighbor. Help an injured wild or homeless domestic animal. Help a customer. Help a child learn to read or do math or resolve schoolyard conflict.

Thanks for asking.

Ah, now you can get paid for most of those, but why is "cookbook tester" the only "profession?" And what about "Game Play Tester?" I've actually seen that in game credits. Perfect for young, otherwise unskilled aspies!
