Ditto! Nothing is as calming as cracking and hard rolling thunder.

I live on Lake ontario, and when something is approaching, it rolls off of the lake, its an incredible site, i see red lightning (tons of it) and nasty rain clouds over canada. I sit and watch, when u have such a vast area with no structures and can see for many many miles, it rocks! Even when I was little I liked thunderstorms, a few times i even took a walk in one to see the lightning (b4 i moved to the lake,).

I love storms, Hurricanes in particular. Go Canes! Anyway, I considered going into meteorology back in high school. Later, I was almost hit by lightning. It struck a tree less than 15 seconds after my buddy and I vacated from beneath it and hopped in the truck that was picking us up after shutting down our landscaping crew due to the storm. I love going out and watching storms and when Hurricanes come through, I put out my Hurricane Warning Flags and hang out on my porch and take it all in. I had the pleasure of enduring Andrew in South Florida. What a rush!

Hi Tim,

I've been struck twice by lightning, so I get a little nervous like one of those hyper small dogs when a storm is approaching. I constantly peep out the window to see what it's doing out there. A couple weeks ago I had just stepped out on the porch when a bolt of lightning struck in the woods in front of my place. Not only did it scare me, but I had this strange pain behind my hearing aid where it touches against the skull. So I think I picked up a little voltage. Last summer a bolt of lightning came through the curtained window, right by me and struck the fuse box. At this point I'm beginning to think God is after me! Oh! Also a couple weeks ago I saw my first ever sighting of what is called Ball Lightning. 8O Yep, it scared me good!

Bloody hell Ticker I'd be mentally scarred for life. 8O

I feel a little out of place here being terrified of storms...
They really do scare the hell out of me... my achilles heel if you will... lol
I don't feel ashamed of my intense fear of them because everyone has a big fear of something... :D except perhaps explorers...

Don't feel weird! It's natural to be afraid of thunderstorms. Lightning can KILL you. They say if you can even hear thunder, even if you don't see lightning, you better get inside, because you're in danger.

I myself like thunderstorms from a healthy distance, like inside my house, away from an open window. Lightning is nothing to play around with. Ma Nature gave us fear for a good reason. Your fear is good judgement!

I love storms and always have. I remember once, while on a drama course, standing outside with a few others, dancing in a storm in the pouring rain. That was great. I just love the power and the energy and the spectacular sight of the lightning of course.

Absolutely. I get all kinds of high in the presence of that kind of power.
One of my goals in life is to see a tornado.;-)

We just had a wicked storm that came through Northern Virginia. Lightning hit outside my house and battery operated items inside turned on. I am not kidding. Freaky!

Thunderstorms are my version of crack :P. Frequent close lightning where you hear the sizzle gives me happy vibes. Too bad thunderstorms are pathetic in Seattle. Cold ocean makes the air too stable for those highly electrified storms you get east of the Rockies. I've been in thunderstorm withdrawal for almost a year now.

I'm left to watch weather porn on youtube .

Perhaps I fear the 'attacking approach play' of lightning. :P It doesn't defend it's an all out attack thing... I'm the opposite I'm 'defensive patient...' in my own subtle way this conjurs up an attack that I use after a carefully planned strategy, so I'm not all about defending.
lol or perhaps not... :/

Sorry about that. I should have put a warning on the second one. At least to turn the volume down before you watch it.

Just watch the last video. It's not scary. No close thunder, just interesting clouds and mostly distant lightning... and hilarious dialog. Part of the fun of watching amateur storm chase videos on youtube is the ridiculous dialog.

"ooooooohh look at that... loooook at that... omg its rotating... see that rotation... oooohhh"

That's why I call it weather porn.

lol don't be sorry it ain't your fault I'm a bloody coward when it comes to storms. :D It's very strange how this stuff makes me shake in fear yet tricky unpredictable social stuff I take head on even if it feels like I'm being impaled on a bloody great spear, and yet even when it's that tricky I still come out alive with some dignity intact... yet storms... ha! :D Scare the hell outta me.

SG bumps another thread. :D

I love thunderstorms. They used to scare me because they were so loud but then I got used to them and now I love them.
