I'm not hoping they'll be anything other than alive, because I don't want to be let down if he/she turns out to be different from what I had hoped for (and if they're stillborn, I'll just keep trying). If he/she is aspie, great (!) - I've had enough firsthand experience with it that I could help them cope with many of the problems they will face. If he/she isn't aspie, that's fine too! I'm just glad that I know about AS now, before I've had offspring. I spent the first 35 years of my life not knowing that it existed. One final statement on this: if I have an aspie child, I might decide not to have any more children, for the sole reason that I don't know how aspies cope with siblings. Although if I have an aspie mate who has siblings herself, maybe she can help in this department.

If I ever do have children, I hope they will be intelligent and have their mother's love of animals, but not my anxieties. I want them to be able to do much more than I ever did. With my age, I worry about chromosomal abnormalities and, because of my medication, there are other difficulties to consider. I don't see myself having any "children" other than my cats and dog.
