Me too (well, if I didn't have to wear sandals all the time, but that's another story). Humans evolved so that their toes, forefoot, and heel all touch the ground at specific moments of their stride. Having just their heels supported on platforms shifts their weight forward in a way that serves no purpose and is liable to cause injury.

I wear sneakers with kanjis drawn in them! They are great, and I haven't seen someone with the same sneakers :)

for indoor (and in the summer outdoor) use i wear sandals from birkenstock, the papillio pisa (the ones with the strings of leather, i hate the feeling of plastics). A quite strongly curved bottom, but once you're used to it, these are very easy to wear (for me).

They last already 5 years, the sole gets worn out now, so within 2 (i hope i can make it 3) years i i'll buy another pair of them, very good value for the money for me, i hope they dont reduce the quality in further productions.

Crocs, adidas sneakers and flip flops. Barefoot whenever possible!

Same, though the feeling of socks can be far, far worse. If I can help it, I don't wear shoes. I still remember getting weird looks when I would walk around the college campus I was at without shoes, a pair of sandals hooked to my backpack for when I entered buildings.

If I have to wear some sort of shoe, Crocs are by far my favorite option. Well ventilated, comfortable soles (if they could be called that), just in general convenient. Being able to hose them down if they get dirty is also nice, sure beats having to worry about keeping them clean.

If I have to wear something nicer, I've got a pair of shoes I found at Goodwill that are relatively nice, and a pair of ankle-height (I think? 3/4? I don't know what it is called...) boots that have zippers on them that are a little nicer. No way of getting out of wearing traditional dress shoes with suits, but I've been lucky enough not to have to go that route as of late.

I've worn sandals even during the times when I've worn a suit, for the past year, now. I'm not sure if many people even notice it.

Due to years of (walking on balls of feet)..I am not very steady on my feet without shoes on.
I hate wearing socks...my feet feel trapped...i like shoes that give support to the overly exaggerated arches of my feet, but are as close to being barfoot as possible.

My 3 favorite kinds of shoes (but not necc in this order) are:

Clarks springers sandals (the model called sunbeat..with the 3 straps)
are there any that are still made in England?..it made me sad when they seemed to stop..and the quality of Clarks really seemed to go down...but I managed to find a nice pair of the "made in England Springers" at a thrifty store...I am currently giving them a rest so I don't wear them out..

Crocs!! !(if I were qualified to call myself an aspie, I would say they were the aspie dream shoe)

and birkenstocks.... :)

I love heels! They usually have to be at least 4 inches high. Moreover, it is not because I am short, since I am 5'8". I just love the way they make my legs and my butt look. Plus, they help improve my posture. I can even run in them. I love sexy strappy heel. I love the new platform pumps. I love Mary Janes w/ a stiletto heel. I love boots w/ heel. They can be an ankle boot, a mid clave boot, a knee-high boot, and when I am feeling daring...sometimes a thigh high boot. I wear a variety a designers at very different price points:

Nine West: $30-$180
Aldo: $60-$250
Stuart Weitzman: $150-$450
Manolo Blahnik: $450-$2500+
Jimmy Choo: $450-$2500+
Christian Louboutin: $550-$3000+
Chanel: $500-+++++

I can never have enough shoes! My closet is overflowing! No matter how much weight I gain or lose, my shoes always fit. The feel of well-made heel is incredible! It is like a high for me! I guess it is a bit of an obsession for me. The only time I wear a flat shoe, is when I am at the gym.

I had a pair of those, they were really comfortable most of the time, they just fell apart rather quickly. I think there was some sort of upkeep that I was supposed to do to them to keep them in good working order...and I didn't.

How did you manage that? Were there any weird reactions at first? If I could pull it off, I'd probably try to do the same. I'm still contemplating trying to find a black pair of Crocs that fit me that look a little less relaxed, I might be able to make those work. With a few minor adjustments.

I just did it and didn't notice anyone looking at them, mentioning them, or not letting me participate for being "improperly dressed". I really don't think the NT world focuses on a person's footwear, unless it's the obvious cause of something outwardly weird about the wearer (you won't be able to pull it off if you still have an AS gait). You also might not be able to pull it off it you have really big feet (mine are mens US size8 ).

not since the stupid days of jr-high and high school has anyone bugged me about my choice of footwear...

Were a slightly more modern pair? Maybe the quality of birkenstocks has gone downhill (just like my poor beloved clarks  )

I have a slightly older pair that i purchased slightly used at a garage sale for 7 bucks about 5 years ago...(that i am currently wearing at the moment)
I have been through hell in these...and they keep right on ticking...albiet..there is a spot at the insole that has been worn down by the balls of my feet, and they are sorta frayed around the edges...but the most comfy shoes in the universe...except that they are very flat and i have short tendons so i kinda waddle if not toe-walking :(

I have a pair of "new" "papillio" birks that my parents bought me and I am really having a hard time breaking them in ....i have a sneaking suspicion that they have started making them someplace else too..so ultimately it is not the same shoe...(i just couldn't find anywhere where it said they were made in Germany)..and they were on sale for really cheap...

If I'm at home I go barefoot, but never outdoors. I always end up stepping on something sharp. Or biting bugs get to my feet and then I get welts. I have delicate little toes.

I don't really care about the brand...

But I do prefer sneakers. For me they are the most comfortable. I don't like sandals as I feel like my feet are "naked".

I know a guy from another support site who always went to meets with no shoes on. This is throughout London on various different surfaces. He always carried a thin pain of flip-flops just in case.

He said he only worse shoes when he went to work.

I tend to like the low profile comfy slip on shoes.

i only care about brands due to the quality of the shoe.

i hate the sensation of the synthetic linings of cheap shoes...I have sorta bad..sensitive feet...so I lean toward well made shoes...and there are particular brands that I trust.

Because of my odd gait I can totally destroy even moderately priced shoes in a short amount of time...if they are comfortable enough for me to even wear them in the first place.

There is a brand called Born that I can wear sometimes....and frankly where the shoes are made does make a difference alot of the time.
There is a big variance in the quality of their shoes that seems to coorespond with where they happen to be made....

i am sorry....I don't really have a shoe fixation...but it is hard for me to walk without them...and I am sensitive to the shoes I wear...and um...whenever I sit down i immediately kick them off...but I am useless walking barefoot....

Crocs are fun because they are almost like being barefoot. I have slept and shwered in my crocs.
