I honestly don't know anything about your country, but I'm sure your culture must be fascinating. I'll do some research, 'cause now I'm curious ~

I want to go to Prague-- it's like a work of art. My mother was supposed to go to Prague to get her teeth fied because it's WAAAAAY (many times) cheaper than in North America but I don't know why she abandoned the plan.

I had the pleasure of meeting several Czechs and had nothing but good experiences. Very easy-going friendly people.

Also, the prettiest girl I ever met was from Prague. Unfortunately when I met her her boyfriend was with her :(

Yes :D

Just realised my country of course is next to the Czech Republic too! I've never been to the Czech Republic myself though and I don't know anything about it. Oh well, European neighbours. I've never been to France either. I've been to Poland and the Netherlands, but that's it.

It is nice to be proud of your country probably. When it comes to my native country (Belgium) I feel either indifference or shame. It's a racist claustrophobic society.

And I've been to Belgium many times too of course. I knew I had forgotten something. I can't remember what it was like, we were there during the summers from when I was about 3 to when I was about 7. I only remember the beaches and that I was surprised that some people there spoke my language.

then you must be Dutch, ben ik correct? :)

Belgium is full of nice places and well, a rotten society. Going more and more right-wing. I am deeply ashamed of all the racism in Belgium. I know more and more European countries go right-wing but it seems Belgium is worst of all. Even though I don't live in Belgium anymore for a while now, it still fills me with shame. After all I still have to carry a Belgian passport...

Not exactly, but you almost got it right. I'm in the country east of you. Germany.

Well, we also fight against emerging right-wing parties here, so you may be right by saying this is a phenomenon that appears all over Europe. Every month or so, it's in the news and that stupid party gains even more attention. I mean, there's usually no true right-wing party around here, because of Hitler and the horrible rep he got this country, but everybody is so appalled by the right-wing party that nobody really knows what to do against it. Politicians would love to forbid it and most of the people agree with them because they don't want crap like that going on here, but as far as I know, this is currently not possible because it would be against Germany's Constitution.

Of course, it also would be horribly ironic to fight right-wing parties by taking away their basic rights like they did to everybody else before WW2.

Ich spreche auch Deutsch. :) Wo in Deutschland kommen Sie von?

I will now go in English before embarrassing myself with a horrible mistake :P

I am in Berlin by the end of the week... I will either live and work in Amsterdam or Berlin the coming half year. The workplace (and place to live) is decided upon this week. By the end of next week I will now. Tough choice because I like both cities but it will probably be decided by the employer so I won't have to make tough decisions myself it seems.

Emil Zatopek was a great runner of the 1950s, who was the only person to win all three of the longest distances, the 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, and marathon. (The Olympic Games are an obsession of mine.)

I had a friend in high school who was Czech. He was a very cute, smart, nice guy, and I had a crash on him. He didn't feel the same way, and ended up going back to Czech republic. Naturally, I associate Czech republic with the remarkable guy who broke my heart. My friend visited it and brought amazing beautiful pictures. I'd like to visit it some time.

I am from Houston (I moved from there 2 months ago), and on nearly every corner, there is a place that sells kolaches. These are pastries that can include fruit, cream cheese, bacon, ham, sausage, you name it. There is a very good chain called the Kolache Factory.

Karel Capek, War with the Newts. Coined the word robot. A true social visionary.

The Skoda Works, high technology from way back.

A small area and language, that has influenced the world.

Good beer and bread.

The girls track team at University of New Orleans.

A place I would like to visit.

You're a bit of a blank with me. I've never met a Czech so can't spew forth any bigotry/compliments about your country. Prague looks like a nice place mind you.

I used to work beside a friendly Czech girl and still keep in touch. It was a transport
company and one day a truck arrived with a couple of Czech drivers and they were
pleasantly surprised to find someone there who could speak their language !
That was before the expansion of the EU when it was unusual for people from
Eastern Europe to be in the UK.I'm interested in geography and history so I know
about Bohemia,Moravia etc and the 'velvet divorce' from Slovakia.I'd like to visit Prague one day as it seems to be a great place.

Oh,I forgot to point out to our American hosts that Budweiser was produced by a
Czech immigrant. I believe the Czechs claim to still make the real version. :)
